It's the summer of 2021 and Jamie and her friends have just finished school, they've been together for the past twelve years and this is the last they will see each other every day, so they've decided to work for the entirety of January to save money for a vacation together during February.

- So do we work fast food? – says Daniel, Jamie's best friend, she's always been fond of him, but she has a girlfriend called May, no one in the group likes her.

- Not my first option but I guess it's the best one - says Gabby, she is giddy and sweet unless you're not nice to her back.

- How about we sell cupcakes? – says Andrew – they're quite the sensation

- And whose kitchen we're going to ruin for that? – says Gabby – I'd rather stand on a kitchen all day that's made for the sole purpose of being destroyed, if we work fast food, we'll have the same wages no matter how much we sell.

- Good point

- So fast food then? – do we go for a family-owned restaurant or just a big chain?

- Are you joking? Family restaurants are the worst, they never pay you what you deserve, you must beg them to pay you your salary, it's humiliating.

- Fine, big chain, let's just send in our resumes

Jamie has started to think about the big change that is coming up in her life, everything she's known for twelve years is about to change, after summer break everyone is going to go into different directions, Gabby and Jamie are planning on going to the same university and rent an apartment together, but Gabby wants to take a gap year first. She says she'll work while Jamie attends university but the idea of gap year sounds quite tempting, it's just that for her, she doesn't want to leave home, Jamie lives with her single father and has no siblings and the idea of leaving him alone drives her to choke up anytime he brings it up, though he supports of any decision that she'll take. Gabby lives with her parents and 4 younger siblings so she is excited about leaving her very, loud, messy but loving house. Whereas for Andrew is thinking of leaving the city to become an actor which has been his dream since he's a kid, Daniel wants to go to university for English but hasn't decided which yet, he feels he shouldn't be picky, because he thinks he doesn't have the potential, he does though.

It's a significant time for all of them, they all have hopes and dreams as any young person and somehow this feels like the last time they are allowed to do so, as they now must act on these dreams, it depends on them whether they become true or not, which is stressful, but quite liberating.

They all applied to work at the same pizza place during the week, it is now Saturday, and they are hanging out on Gabby's backyard to celebrate the end of their school years; her siblings were running around but they're all used to it by now. There are half full alcohol bottles on the table and loud 80's music that everyone is too drunk to change or to even notice that it's been playing for the last hour. Everyone is talking loudly

- Wait, has anyone checked if that pizza place hired us? – says Gabby – I completely forgo- BE CAREFUL! - she screams to her little brother, who is now crying on the floor – ok bedtime everyone, let me see if you got hurt

- BUT MOMMY – says Andrew, in a childish voice

- Not you, idiot, let me get my mum, don't check your e-mails without me!

- Do we get to eat free pizza if they hire us? – asked Dan

- No clue, but will you be willing to have pizza every day? We'll learn how to make it; we'll know the truth behind them – says Andrew
