In a small mountain village, separated from the rest and where the sun was rarely seen, lived people who had never seen a demon but one singular person. This information was kept a secret however since Hachirō Yukimitsu, who worked as a nichirin blacksmith, wanted to keep the existence of demons, a secret since he just wanted his kids to grow up in a friendly environment. It started with their oldest son, Naoki Yukimitsu who was very much like his father being prideful and stoic yet honest and loyal to the people who mattered. The second child, a girl by the name of Y/N Yukimitsu, was very kind and gentle but could have a short temper if her height was mentioned. The youngest of the three children, Atsuko Yukimitsu was much like their mother with a smiling face and gentle heart, wanting nothing but the best, however she struggled to formulate words with strangers. The two parents along with their three kids hadn't lived on the mountain for too long but when the youngest was born, Hachirō realized that he had three kids he couldn't protect since he was just a blacksmith so in the midst of panicking, he ended up leaving the family to save himself.
Naoki had been training underneath his father, at least what he knew, for a year but even though Y/N hadn't received direct training from her father, her brother had taught her behind their father's back since their parents wanted her to just stick to housewife chores. Y/N, however, found a way to do both without their parents' suspicions but as their father left, when she was merely four years old, her respect for him was gone. Naoki was five when their father left while Atsuko was barely even a month old so this caused the two elder kids to despise their father, the youngest still had too big of a heart to despise him though, but she felt saddened by his actions.
This is the family that they grew up with but at the age of ten, Naoki had hit his limit and he refused to believe that their father just straight up left them no matter what the others said. He grabbed ahold of a katana that his father had left behind and entered the forest ahead of him, the forest that was surrounding the village but he didn't doubt himself because of it and walked into the darkness of it, not knowing this would be the last time he saw his family for a long time.
A year after Naoki's disappearance, Y/N was practicing day in and day out like her brother had taught her before he disappeared without a word, not caring anymore about her mother's concern and pleas for her to stop training, asking Y/N to help her sister and mother instead. Y/N felt helpless as her father left then her brother and it felt all too soon, especially not knowing why or where to since all she knew was this village, looking up at the sky as the darkness was lit up by thousands of stars. "You didn't have to leave like our father.."
Days passed and neither of the two was seen, causing Y/N to eventually close out those emotions that once cared for them so she could keep going without them on her mind. One late night, Y/N along with their mother Aiko, was on their way home as they had stayed out too long since they needed more ingredients for their cooking and these ingredients could only be found by a tree far into the forest. They walked alongside each other as they discussed the dinner plans when they get home, making it together with Atsuko who was home alone since she didn't like going outside unless necessary so they let her have her wish. "Marechi blood.."
This new additional voice caused the two females to become alert and turn around to see a hunched-over masculine silhouette but something seemed off about him so Y/N slowly backed away from the creature, her mother however, being as kind as she was, trying to approach the creature, asking if he needed help. The daughter stayed alert but as soon as the movements from the creature were made, it was too late as she felt the whole world go in slow motion when she witnessed the blood pour out of her own mother. The red devilish eyes then looked straight through the E/C shaded orbs, giving the girl a shiver down her spine, even freezing her in place as she was scared and unsure of what to do. The creature launched himself at her and as part of the world still felt like it was moving slowly, she could hear her brother's words from their training, echoing in her mind telling her to defend herself so as an instinct, she used the fruits they had gathered to throw at the demon. This proved to do no real effect but annoy him even further so she picked up a rock that was basically double the size of her hand, making it hard to hold but she managed as she had a sturdy grip on it. He ran in a blind rage at her, causing her to effectively react to his sloppy movements and hit him rather hard between his brows with the rock, causing him to groan in pain and annoyance since she wasn't such easy prey. It was like the martial art training she did with her brother too, making her see the pattern and the fault in his movement but he was still a demon so as she grew tired and injured, she couldn't keep up anymore. This was his golden opportunity he didn't hesitate one second and snatched her by the throat, pushing her into the ground and causing the girl to lose her breath for a minute as the impact was hard. She tried her best to get him off her but after that impact along with injuries and exhaustion, this was it, she was caught and dead so as she felt her breath fading away, she closed her eyes, and the last thing she saw was the demon licking her blood with a satisfied expression.
