Ava rushed through the door and immediately kicked her shoes off and ran up the spiral of stairs. One hand was covering her face and the other tugging at the stair railing in hope that she'll get up faster.

You could tell she went to her room because the door thumped behind her.

"Honey, is that you?", her mother yelled out knowing quite well it was.

Ava lay on her bed, hugging her pillow. Her dull green eyes were glassy from all her tears she had just let out.

As she lay with not much strength left, her Mum knocked at the door. "Yes?", she said with a soft voice. Her mum walked in wearing her pink robe and her worried look. She just sat beside Ava on her bed watching her and gently patting her dark brown hair. "What's wrong darling?..", she said after some time, "Nothing Mum, I'm fine, I promise.. I'm just tired! School does that", she tried to assure her, "Okay sweet heart.. If you say so", her Mum said but still knew she was lying.

Ava and her Mum were a unit and lived together, right by the sea. Ava's father had walked out on them when Ava was only 5 years old, she's now 15. She still doesn't know why and she doesn't really want to know, "He's old news now", she always says. Although she wonders where he is and what it would be like if he stayed or better yet, what she would be like if he stayed.

*BEEP, BEEP, BEEP*
It was 7:45am, Ava pulled off her blanket and sighed with a sad heart for it was school and she did not like the people she had to see there. But she still got ready and made an effort to be there on time. She faced life, that was the beautiful thing about Ava, she actually faced her problems.

She made her way down the stairs very slowly, the same stairs she runs up after school.

As she was at the table eating her Coco Pops her Mum began to ask, "So.. What was actually wrong last night, dear?", Ava gave her a look as if to say nothing was wrong. "Because you were quite upset, I haven't saw you like that for about a month now.", her Mum added.

Ava looked around the room, as she stared at the shiny, glass chandelier she said, "It's Gemma, Mum", her Mum knew who Gemma was because Gemma was the class bitch. "What's Gemma done this time?", "She just seems to think she's "so cool" and amazing but she's really not.", Ava said with slight annoyance. Her Mum did not like Gemma, at all. "So, what's she done to you?", Ava replied really quickly because she had to go, "She just keeps turning everyone against me because apparently I don't belong and I'm not good enough for anyone and I will never have a boyfriend and just stupid crap like that.", her Mum gave her a look of disgust, "We'll talk more about this later, okay? Because you don't deserve to be treated like that. Don't believe her, honey.", her Mum said as she gave her a kiss on the head.

............................................

As Ava sat at her desk, Gemma glared at her.

Ava was not intimidated and just said with confidence,"What do you want?", Gemma gave her an even scarier glare and said,"I don't want anything from you.", "Turn around than.", Ava told her.

Gemma was a diva and wore lots of pink and showed lots of skin. She always wore her hair in a high pony tail and wore layers of makeup to the point she looked like barbie.

Everyone wanted to be her "friend" or whatever, just for status and to feel like they belonged. But Ava never wanted to be little miss diva's "friend", because she was a bitch, to everyone.

"I can glare at you all I like, thank you very much, you can't tell me what to do.", she said with an evil laugh and the rest of the class joined with her.

Ava tried to remain strong and she would usually succeed not to let anyone know she was falling apart. But this time it was different, she couldn't hold the tears back and she just burst into hysterics.

The whole class except Gemma, stopped laughing. Gemma's face soon went from amusement to anger, "Why are you all not laughing? She deserves the embarrassment.", Gemma said but the whole class didn't seem to agree with her anymore.

"What's wrong, Ava?", Mr. Smith asked, he was a young teacher, short blonde hair and gorgeous blue eyes.

Ava didn't reply, she just got up and ran out of class.

She went to the toilet and sat in one of the stalls. She was whimpering, trying not to make too much noise. She got her phone out and dialled her Mum's number.

*bring bring bring bring*

"Hello sweet heart, is everything alright?" Her Mum answered on the other end.

"Not really Mum", she said with a husky voice.

"Is it Gemma?"

"Yes, she's being horrible again."

"Go to the principles office and see if they can call me to come in? I'll see if they can move you into a different class, if you want?", her Mum asked her, in hope that this will fix it.

"Okay, I guess.", Ava said with a weak voice.

..................................................

Ava and her Mum sat in Mrs. Boricks, the principals office together. The principal was scary, like all principal's really. She had short, strawberry blonde mixed with grey hair, she was at least in her late 50s. She wore red lipstick and her attire mainly consisted of red. She spoke in a deep, husky voice and almost never smiled.

"So, you're telling me you want to move your daughter due to her class mates bullying her?", Mrs. Borick asked, which was clearly a rhetorical question.

"If that is able to be done?", her Mum asked,

But Mrs. Boricks didn't reply straight away, she was shuffling through paper work on her desk. After a few moments she said with a confident voice, "Ahh, yes! Mrs. Harris has a spare spot for you.",

"Great!", Ava's Mum exclaimed.
