She was still sitting there. All you could hear was the sound of her deep breathing, that came from the depths of her slumped body. All that was left of her water works was some hiccups. She pulled her heavy, slumped body up into a nice, straight posture. She stood up and stretched her achy muscles. Over she went to the tap and turned on the icy cold water. She new not to drink it but what harm could washing her hands do? Well, she was soon to find out. She let the cold, refreshing water run over her burning, hot hand from where she sat on it. She stood there for a minute or two just letting her hand cool down. Maria began to drift into a daydream.

Her dream: Maria is playing in her garden with her best friend, Michaela. She is at the new house when a clap of thunder is heard. England rarely had thunder in summer, only in April. Another one is heard and there is fork lightning lighting up the now dark, clouded sky⚡. The lightning strikes the tree they are playing under. Michaela is struck down. Maria sees her motionless friend lying on the ground struggling to breath. Maria immediately hovers over her now nearly dead friend. She shakes Michaela but gets no response. 'Michaela' she screams. 'Michaela' she struggles to talk through the tears starting to roll down her cheeks. 'Michaela, c....c....can you h..h..hear me? The tears are rolling down her cheeks now like a waterfall cascading down the sodden rocks. She looks up to the sky, her hands still on her best friend who is now dead, and screams and hollers'Michaela, why?'

She is snapped out of her daymare by a knock on the door. 'Maria, darling? Are you alright?' She looks over at her reflection in the mirroe. A stray tear has snuck its way down her face and is hanging for dear life onher nose like a baby monkey clinging to its mother. It falls off into the sink. It sounded like a rain droplet landing in a murky pond. That is when she is aware that the water is still running and her hand is numb with coldness. 'Yes mother, I'm fine.' She lies. She heard the pitter patter of footsteps walking away. She relaxes. That was a close one she thought. She turns off the water with her one functioning hand. She then turns on the hot tap to find it's really hot She waits for her numb hand to thaw out and the hot water to cool down before she cups her hands together. She gets a handful of lukewarm water and wastes her face, being careful not to get any in her mouth. The mirror mist up and she draws a smiley face, but she can't help it and she draws a frown on it. She had hoped that her trip would be amazing and nothing would worry her. She hadn't even been there two days and she had already had a bad thought.

She unlocked the wooden door and walked into the bedroom. No one was there thank goodness she heard the floor creak behind her and she quickly spun round 180 degrees. There were her parents waiting for her. Great, this was going to be fun! She thought sarcastically.
