Hermione had mixed emotions after hearing about Hiram's death.
There was no sadness, no anger, her heart wasn't breaking, it just felt empty.
Empty and cold.
It had taken her years to get over everything he had done to her. Hours of talking to therapists.
She was sure she'd never recover from all of this.
Zach had given her the space she needed to process the news, afraid she was going to break down, but not a single tear left Hermione's eyes.
In her head, she told herself over and over again: "You’re fine. You’re over him. He deserved it".Hoping to wash all the confusion away, she took a shower, then went to bed.
She woke up at the home coming at Riverdale High, 1988.
She was dancing in Hiram's arms.
He looked so good in his suit, his warm dark eyes looked deep into hers.
"I love you, Hermione Gomèz." He said.
He smiled then. She just smiled back, then huged him. "I miss you!" She whispered, pulling him closer. He let go of her, cupping her face with his hands.
"What do you mean, amor? I'm here!"
"But you'll leave me. Business will become more important to you than me, and more than our daughter-" "Hermione? Baby, are you ok? We don't have a daughter!"
Hermione forced a smile at him, then kissed him.
"Right, sorry. I guess Marty put too much alcohol into the bowle."
"Are you sure you're ok?" Hiram looked worried into his girlfriend's eyes.
"Yeah!" She rubbed her wet eyes, but smiled. "Why are you crying then?"
"Because I wish this was real!" Hiram looked even more confused.
The memory faded away. Then Hermione woke up in their apartment in New York City. She was laying in bed. Hiram entered the room in his sport clothes. "Still in bed, mi vida?" "Sorry-" she mumbles. "Don't be, I like you in my bed!" He chuckled. "Do you know what I like? Having you in bed with me!"
Hiram smiled while pulling his clothes off. He got on top of Hermione, kissing her softly. His hands glided under her nightgown, pulling her panty down.
Hiram positioned himself at her entrance, then glided into her slowly.
"Good morning, mi amor." He laughed against her lips. "My favorite way to say good morning!" Hermione laughed back. He rested his forehead against hers and looked deep into her eyes while starting to move slowly.
"Do you want me to go faster?" "No, let's enjoy this moment!" "Ok!" He kissed her forehead. Her next memory was at the altar. She stood in front of him, wearing her skintight, laced wedding gown.
"Repeat after me!" The priest hsd said to Hiram. "I, Hiram Lodge" "I, Hiram Lodge" "Take you, Hermione Apollonia Gomèz, to my wedded wife" Hiram smiles at Hermione. "Take you, Hermione Apollonia Gomèz, to wedded wife. To love and to cherish. In good times and in bad, in sickness and health, in poverty and wealth. Until death do us part." He took Hermione's hand and put the wedding band on her finger. Then Hermione raised her voice. "I, Hermione Apollonia Gomèz, take you, Hiram Lodge, to my wedded husband. To love and to cherish. In good times and in bad, in sickness and health, in poverty and wealth. Until death do us part!" She cried in happiness while putting the band on his fingers. "I hereby proclaim you husband and wife!" The priest smiled.
Hiram and Hermione smiled at each other with teary eyes. He leaned in and pressed his lips on his wife's one.
The audience applaused. Apollonia and Lourdes both had to dry their eyes with a handkerchief. Their lips parted, Hiram whispers into Hermione's ear: "I'll never let you go!" "I love you!" She whispered back, then they kissed again.Hermione woke up from her dream. Zach layed next to her. Still sleepy she rubbed her ringfinger. Sometimes she missed the feeling of the massive diamond ring on her finger.
She got out of the bed. Somewhere in the back of her closet she had hidden a little box. She took the box with her to the dining room. With a glass of wine next to her, she opened the box. In it was the little ring box. Hermione slowly put the ring on her finger again, admiring the diamond. In the box was also a photo of Hiram and her. A photo taken in better times.
"Get out of my head, Hiram!" She commanded his smiling face on the picture. In her head, all their moments together came back to life. Like a movie. First only the good ones, then all the bad ones. She felt like her head was exploding. She threw the ring against the wall, then screamed at the photo: "I won't let you ruin me again. I hope you're burning in hell!"
Angry, she put the ring and the photo back into the box and threw into threw it into the fire place.
She took her glass of wine and watched it burn.
"I'm done with you, Hiram Lodge. I'm not the good wifey mi amore anymore. I'm badass bitch Hermione Gomèz, now! So whereever you are, I hope you feel my anger!"
