"Maeve?" my boss Nat calls from her office. I quickly finish stocking the new order of specific band picks and then make my way to her office. "You can sit if you'd like." I nod and take a seat growing nervous.

"Is everything okay?" I ask before I stress too much. Nat immediately nods before speaking, "Yes, everything is good. But I wanted to have a chat with you. As you know I hired a new girl but she's starting today. I was hoping you could help her because I'm leaving for the rest of the day."

"Of course. Do you need anything else?"

Nat shakes her head and thanks me. I leave her office to finish stocking the picks but am taken off guard by the beautiful women walking in. Her long black hair moves as she walks, her long eyelashes brushing her upper cheek as she blinks. She scans around the shop her eyes stopping on me. She faintly smiles and then walks to Nat's office.

So the new girl is unbelievably beautiful and looks just like my type. Fantastic. I just need to get through my shift then I'll go home and get her stupidly beautiful face out of my mind.

"Maeve? Hello?" I am taken out of my thoughts by Nat's voice. "Maeve, this is Phoebe." I try my best not to make eye contact with her which is extremely difficult.

"Hi Phoebe, welcome to the shop." I am looking behind her at the bass guitars. God, get yourself together.

Nat speaks before Phoebe can, "I have to go. Good luck." I nod watching her leave.

Still not making direct eye contact I say, "Have you done all the mandatory training?"

Phoebe lets out a sigh and nods. "Why won't you look at me? You'll make it a lot less awkward if we look at each other well speaking."

"I don't know about that," I whisper under my breath before taking one in and looking at her. I'm shocked again by how gorgeous she is.

"What?" she says confused. Her nose bunches a little at the expression.

"Nothing. Have you had a job anything like this before?"

"Yes, but I'll need to know the rules and what goes on around here."

"Today isn't usually a busy day so we can talk over there." I guide her to the chair behind the cash and sit on the counter.

After talking about the shop I leave to finish unstocking as she cleans around.

"Why did you choose to work here?" I ask after 15 minutes of working with nothing but faint music playing.

Phoebe turns to face me when she answers, "I love guitar and music and saw they were hiring. This shop is where my dad got me a guitar for my 8th birthday, fell in love with it ever since.

"Wow." I suddenly smile. "Which ones do you play?"

"All of them. I started with bass and then built up to electric and acoustic. What about you?"

"Oh well, yea I play acoustic and electric."

She turns again, "Maybe I can teach you bass sometimes."

"I'd love that. Would you really?" I say maybe a little too excitingly.

"Yes, of course, I'd enjoy it."

We work a little longer than close the shop yet we don't go our separate ways. We sit where we sat before talking about ourselves. I have never gotten on so well with someone so fast before. After an hour of getting to know each other, we lock up and exchange numbers.

Later that night I get a text from Phoebe. I try not to smile when I first see her name but I soon give up and smile.

Phoebe: Hey! It was really nice meeting you and getting to know you a bit.
