Charlies POV:We all sat around the table trying to figure out Lokis location. It was so hard to stay focused. Why was i still here? They don't need me, I failed the last mission how can this one be any better. I should have been better. Is anyone i know still alive?
So many questions ran through my head. I was snapped out of my thought when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I followed it to Steve "Are you okay" he asked softly. I couldn't help but blush a little.
"Im fine Steve" i replied with a small smile. This helped me get focused back into the mission.
"He had to conquer his greed, but he knows he has to take us out to win, right? That's what he wants. He wants to beat us and he wants to be seen doing it. He wants an audience." Tony finished.
"Right, I caught his act at Stuttengard." Steve responded. I was completely lost on what was going on.
"Yeah. That's just a preview, this is opening night. Loki's a full-tilt diva. He wants flowers, he wants parades, he wants a monument built in the skies with his name plastered...Son of a B****!" Tony yelled.
Everyone began to clear the room and suit up. I was the last to leave, confused by everything i walked slow with my head down. I was again lost in thought until i collied into a wall...more like a super soldier.
"I am so so sorry steve I should have watched myself" i quickly apologized.
"Charlie, it's okay. Are you sure your okay you seem off in there. You can talk to me, trust me ill be able to understand better than anyone." he asked.
I stood silently, debating whether to tell him but once i looked into his eyes, i knew i could trust him. "Why am I here? I am no hero, so many died, i couldn't save them all." I finished quietly my head low.
"Charlie look at me" steve said with his hand under my chin. I blushed deep red at the contact. "You saved more then anyone could that day. Something you need to keep in mind, you can't save everyone. Not even a team of enhanced people could save everyone. You made a huge sacrifice that day and saved so many people. Lets go save the world again." steve spoke smiling.
I couldn't help but smile back. What was he doing to me? I snapped out of it and quickly responded "Thank you steve"
"Go suit up" he told me while walking away.
Suit up? I don't have a suit...
"Ms. Williams, this way to your suit" Nick said leading me down the hallway to a room.
I stared at it wide eyed. It was beautifully constructed. As i put it on I noticed there was a part where my stomach showed. I cringed slightly, this is definitely not the 1940's. I looked at myself in the mirror, shocked my my appearance. Betty would laugh at this outfit, it was so me. James would have made fun of me of course.I didn't even realize i started to tear up at their names until i felt a tear hit my cheek.
"Charlie, its time to go" Natasha told me.
"Im coming" i responded. Time to save the world, hopefully ill suceed this time. i though bitterly to myself.
Quinjet, on the way to Stark Tower:
Steves POV:
Natasha, Clint, Charlie and I all sat in the quintet silently waiting. Getting a good look at Charlies suit, I laugh a little.
She looks up at me with a smirk "What? is there something on my face" She asks chuckling.
I shook my head "No i was just trying to figure out where they got the idea for your suit" I said sarcastically.
