Worthy (Captain America/Steve Rogers Love Story)

New York Pt. 2

Charlies POV:

Steve and I kept the battle on the ground as much as we could. Between my shields and the tossing of Steves shield, we were holding up very well.

"Captain, the bank on 42ndpast MADISON, they caught a lot of civilians there." I hear hawkeye say through the ear piece. Worry immediately bubbled inside me.

"Im on it, Charlie stay here" Steve said about to walk away. But in no way was i going to stay, my duty is to the people and many are in direct danger right now.

I look Steve in the eyes and firmly say "No, I'm coming with you." Steve smiled and nodded. Wow he has a great smile....not now Charlie. FOCUS on the mission.

We quickly run over to the bank finding dozens of citizens crowded in. While Steve jumps in through the window, I went straight into the crowd. I start trying to get people to clear out. There was complete chaos and shots were fired everywhere. I quickly put up a shield to block any of the citizens from getting hurt while steve took out the Chitauri.

I could hear the faint beeping of the bomb, it was going to go off any minute and these people were not getting out fast enough. I acted quickly i created a shield around everyone in the room. Even though this meant i was exposed i didn't care. Those peoples lives come first. it is my duty to protect them.

"Everybody clear out!" Steve yelled just as the bomb went off. I screamed struggling to keep the shield up and take on the effects of the bomb. I held it long enough for safety, then i collapsed.

I felt so much pain, i was seeing spots in my vision, it was hard to breath. I hope Steve is okay, was the only thought in my mind right now.

Steves POV:

The blast of the bomb through me right into the car. I struggled to get up. But then I realized, Charlie took on the full blast in order to protect everyone, a true hero. But at what sacrifice? is she okay? is she alive? She has to be she is a super soldier.

I Quickly got to my feet and ran into the bank.

"CHARLIE!" I screamed worry filling me. I see her on the ground struggling to breath cuts littering her body.

"Charlie, Charlie look at me. Come on your alright you got this. Just breath easy, deep breath in and out." I told her while holding her in my arms and stroking her hair. I was nervous, nervous she could be seriously injured or worse that she could die and i didn't even have the chance to take this wonderful woman on a date.

I noticed her breathing became more even, but we just stayed there and stared at each other for what felt like forever. She was finally able to get up with my help. She looked at me and smiled "Thank you Steve."

We quickly ran back to the fight.

Third POV:

Nat was getting ready to close the portal when Stark interrupted "I got a nuke coming in, it's gonna blow in less than a minute. And I know just where to put it."

Everybody looked to the portal, understanding what his plan was. They all stayed silent, realizing the consequences if Tony does this.

"Stark, you know that's a one way trip" Steve said shocked, his perception of Tony changing.

Stark climbed hire and hire with the missile finally pulling it through the portal. He successfully destroyed the Ship but was losing oxygen an consciousness.

Back on earth, the Avengers anxiously waited his return.

Charlie, not even realizing, gripped Steves arm worried for her new team mate. Steve also didn't realize his grip on her as well.

"Come one stark" nat kept whispering.

The explosion was getting to big, unfortunately, leading cap tp utter two words he didn't want to in the situation "Close it"

Nat didn't hesitate and pushed the sceptor through closing the portal. But a small figure came through and was falling at an alarming rate.

"Son of a gun" cap said in shock. Charlie couldn't believe it herself either "My god...." she breathed out. Just then the two noticed their closeness and quickly let go with a blush.

"Hes not slowing down" Thor says, concerned, ready to save his friend but there was no need, the hulk was already on top of it.

Once they make it to the ground, Thor rips off Tony's mask to see if he was still alive. There was no signs of movement. Everybody looked down while the hulk let out a huge roar of Fury.

Suddenly, Tony shoots awake gasping for air. He looks around slightly crazed "What the hell? What just happened? Please tell me nobody kissed me? Except for new girl...that wouldn't be so bad" Tony spoke.

Charlie couldn't help but laugh, her team is alive and together.

"We won" Cap spoke with a smile on his face. Charlie looked over to him.

She didn't want to admit it, but she was quite taken by this man. Maybe this new world wouldn't be so bad.
