5 YEARS SINCE SNAP:
Third POV:
Its been five years since Thanos snapped half the population out of existence, most people found it hard to move on past the events.
Charlie and Nat sat at the compound organizing things for the orphanages they set up as well as brainstorming ways they could bring everyone back. Through this process, both women became extremely close with one another. They both saw each other as the sisters they always wanted.
"Nat...we are running out of ideas" Charlie said with a sigh as she paused in folding the blankets.
"I know...im not sure what else we can do" Nat replied knowing fully well they couldn't keep going much longer.
Charlie kept her promise to Steve, they spent most days with each other dancing, catching up on movies, trying for a baby, just enjoying each other. Only a few days a week, Steve went and spoke to sams group, but he opened it up know to survivors of the snap. everyone was going through a hard and emotional time. Steve found these meetings helpful for himself as well, although everything with charlie was going amazing, they both mourned their lost friends. Steve encouraged Charlie to come, he could see how hard this time was on her. She not only lost Peter, but her friendship with Tony was destroyed. She also lost sam, one of her best friends, and Bucky, someone she was growing to like very much.
Charlie got up realizing the time "Nat I've got to go, I promised Steve I would come to at least one of his meetings" Charlie said walking over to her and giving Nat a hug. The two held on tightly to each other.
"We will figure it out Nat, but we can't keep going forever" Charlie spoke
"I know" Nat said pulling away from Charlie and giving her a smile. Charlie ran out, got onto her bike and headed off.
Soon she arrived at the facility and quietly walked in, Charlie wasn't sure about this. She did not like opening up in front of others but who knows this could be good for her. Before she could walk in, she found herself running to the bathroom. Wishing seconds, she emptied the contents of her stomach. She sat there for a few moments, she must have caught a bug. Something she hadn't experienced since she was five years old. She quickly washed her hands and headed out just in time to hear Steve.
"That's great. You did the hardest part. You took the jump, you didn't know where you were gonna come down. And that's it. That's those little brave baby steps we gotta take. To try and become whole again, try and find purpose. I went in the ice in '45. Woke up 70 years later. You gotta move on. Gotta to move on. The world is in our hands. It's left to us guys, and we got to do something with it. Otherwise... Thanos should have killed all of us."Steve finished and the room went silent as they ll soaked in the information. Charlie smiled then decided to walk in. Steve heard footsteps and looked up to meet his wife eyes, his smile grew wide happy she took his advice and came.
Everyone went around in a circle sharing how they felt and what they have experienced. Steve was anxious to see what charlie had to say. After some time it was Charlies turn. She took in a deep breath and spoke from the heart.
"Steve and I watched a movie not to long ago, I think it was called Frozen?" She said causing everyone to laugh a little including her and Steve "It was a children's movie, but the meaning behind it was fare more complex. The biggest thing the character learned was to let it go and this struck me. How could I let something like this go? how could I let my past failures go? But the answer was simple. Your peace, your sanity, the people who are here with you. These things are far more important than driving yourself crazy trying to understand why something happened the way it did. You just have to let it go. You know the biggest reason why we can't move on is because deep inside we still have hope. But at some point we need to let it go, to save ourselves. Starting today, we need to let go of what is gone, we need to appreciate what remains, and look forward to what is coming. I know i do" Charlie finished as she looked towards Steve.
Steve looked at his wife in complete awe. Her speech was inspiring and beautiful and he cherished her so much more for it. He looked around to see smiling faces. His heart soar. Steve wrapped up the meeting walking out hand in hand with Charlie as they approached the bike. Before they got on Steve pulled her into into a hug in which charlie quickly returned
"i am so unbelievably proud of you darling" Steve said as he pulled her tighter
"i couldn't have done it without you Steve" She finished pulling away and hopping onto the bike, as they rode off charlie got hit with a wave of nausea, but tried to hold it in until they got back to the compound. As they approached and slowed Charlie hopped off and ran to the bathroom. Steve ran after her in concern. As he entered the bathroom he heard Charlie. He quickly ran into the stall and pulled her hair out of the way rubbing soothing circles on her back.
After Charlie finished, she pulled her head away from the toilet and looked up at Steve exhausted.
"Charlie are you okay?" Steve asked concerned, he's never seen her sick. EVER. He didn't even know she could get sick. He attributed it to the amount fo stress they were under.
"Its probably just the stress, i promise I will be okay" Charlie said
"Thank you for holding my hair back" Charlie said laughing
"anything for you, why don't you head back to our room and get a bath going to relax. Ill join you in a few I just need to talk to Nat real quick" Steve suggested both wanting Charlie to relax and liking the idea of where it could lead.
"No i need to go to Nat i promised" Charlie said as she got up but Steve wasn't having it.
"No Charlie. Take a break for a little while...Please" Steve begged. Steve wasn't one to beg and Charlie was well aware of this and decided it best to follow orders. She pulled him in for a hug. Steve went to kiss her but she pulled her head away
"trust me you do NOT want to kiss me right now" She said casing them both to laugh
"Okay but I expect one later" Steve said as they bother walked out of the bathroom. Charlie headed towards their room while Steve went to talk with Nat.
