Hop! Slide! Duck!

Someone ran through the forest, stepping in fallen twigs and branches. Sometimes accidentally falling. But they have to get up quickly. Unless they want to be a yummy meal for what's after them.

“Shit shit shit shit-” is what they thought to themselves. That's what (Y/n), was thinking. Trying their best to keep going, limping their way through.

Yes, (Y/n). Seemingly a normal citizen. As normal as it can be as a 17 year old. They have a family consisting of their mom and dad, maybe a few siblings..? But they have a family atleast.

Or maybe should I say, had?

Y/n)'s currently running away from home. Why would they be running away? They have it decent there, there's no need to become a runaway.

CRASH!!

Well you see there's been an accident- SCREEEECH!!!

The screech was loud and it sounded close too. Maybe it had caught up to them already. (Y/n) whipped their head back to see a huge bear. From first glance this just looks like your normal brown bear. That's what you see from the behind anyways.

The bear, staring directly at (Y/n) huffed at them. (Y/n)'s breath hitched. This is it isn't it. They're going to die by the hands of a devil.

But to their surprise, instead of getting jumped and mauled. The bear devil just got pulverised out of thin air. Blood splattering all over the place.

Chatter chatter.

“Well, that does it.” (Y/n) heard a voice, a voice of a female. Deciding to not stay and find out (Y/n) sneaked off between the trees and left the bloodied area. Still limping of course.

After a few minutes of walking (Y/n) decided that no one should be able to find them for now. They limped over to a boulder and sat leaning against it. (Y/n)'s breathing was a bit ragged. Luckily they weren't too injured.

What are they gonna do now? Stay here and wait for inevitable death? Pssh no. If only (Y/n) knew where to go now that their house is probably destroyed. (Y/n) had no relatives that lived nearby so that wouldn't work.

The sounds of rustling caused (Y/n) to drop the thought. They got up immediately, ready to run. However instead of some huge scary devil there was a… small bird? Not a normal one either. It must be a devil as that damn bird had one eye! One huge eye in the middle of its comically large head. The bird seems to be hurt as one of its wings is bent weirdly.

“Um, hi,” was all (Y/n) could muster up. What are they supposed to do with this? They flinched when the little bird devil walked up closer to them. Once it was directly in front of (Y/n) it's eye closed. The eye opened again to become a mouth full of razor sharp teeth.

Just as (Y/n) was gonna move away from the small bird. The small bird bit down onto their leg. (Y/n) let out a wheeze as their blood was getting sucked out of them.

‘I'm not gonna get rabies from this right..?’ a stupid thought to have right now but whatever.

The small devil let go. It looked up to (Y/n), whose face was pale right now, and snuggled up into them. The little bird flapped its wings now that it's healed and landed on (Y/n)'s shoulder.

“You're welcome, I guess,” (Y/n) said, they were getting dizzy. Although they didn't sustain any major injuries they were still losing blood. It doesn't help that the little bird literally just sucked a whole chunk right now.

(Y/n) stumbled. The bird glided off their shoulder and set itself on the ground. Then the bird stared up at them. (Y/n) wanted to say something but instead of words coming out they were only met with heavy breathing and wheezing.

It didn't take long before they hit the ground with a thud.

The birdie now looked alarmed as it quickly scurried to (Y/n)'s side.

“I- I don't wanna die…” they said to no one in particular. The bird devil hopped onto (Y/n)'s back. Then (Y/n) heard a voice.

“I can grant that,” the meek small voice said. “I'll become one with you.”

… To become one?

“Is this… a contract..? What do you want from me..?” (Y/n) asked.

“Hmm, I'll do it if you…” it stops to think.

“...pet all the cats you see.”

“...”

“...What?”

“I like cats.”

(Y/n)'s vision is slowly fading.

“I- I accept,” (Y/n) coughs weakly.

“Very well.”

Then everything faded away and (Y/n) felt as if they'd been dropped into the void.
