Cold wind is whipping against Alexander's face, His hair, usually pulled back with a hair tie, is loose and blowing out behind him.

Glancing out onto his beloved New York city, looking at the place that bought him so many opportunities.

These opportunities only bought him pain in the end.

John is gone. The war haunts him. Eliza refuses to talk to him after that damned article was published. Lafayette has been left to suffer alone.

He inches closer to the edge of the roof, sitting down, dangling his legs over the edge.

He can hear people screaming and yelling from below. Glancing down, he recognises the blue dress of Eliza on one side of the road. George Washington looks over as he hears Eliza's shout, and he looks up and runs to the door of the building, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Aaron Burr following close behind.

Alexander can hear the shouts from his friends, family, and opposing political enemies.

Achilles, Achilles, Achilles, come down

Won't you get up off, get up off the roof?

They're asking him to get off the roof. Why should he? He won't hurt anyone up here, nor will he hurt anyone if he jumps. Everyone hates him, so why would anybody care if he's gone?

The roof is his only safe place. It's also the only place he can go where he's sure he can jump without being interrupted.

The weightless feel under his feet is comforting. He wonders how it would feel to be totally weightless, falling.

Would falling and flying feel the same?

You're scaring us and all of us, some of us love you

Achilles, it's not much but there's proof

You crazy-assed cosmonaut, remember your virtue

Redemption lies plainly in truth

The shouts continue, only making Alexander inch closer to the edge.

Just humor us, Achilles, Achilles, come down

Won't you get up off, get up off the roof?

Alexander smiles manically. The voices are coming closer, almost at the door to the roof. Washington's heavy footfalls are becoming louder.

Achilles, Achilles, Achilles, come down

Won't you get up off, get up off the roof?

The self is not so weightless, nor whole and unbroken

"Alex, my love, please! Get off the roof! Please," Eliza begs brokenly.

Remember the pact of our youth

Where you go, I'm going, so jump and I'm jumping
