Louis awoke the next morning stiff and sore. Although the bed had been surprisingly comfortable for a hotel room, he had been awoken at 8 am by children screaming down the halls and hadn't been able to get back to sleep. So now here he was, running on less than six hours of sleep.

He got up and headed over to the bathroom and hopped in the shower. He had forgotten to pack shampoo and soap, so he put that on his mental check list to remember for when he found a flat to live in for the time being. Jumping out of the shower, he wrapped the towel around his waist and went back into the room to grab his bag and put his clothes on.

After getting ready for the day, he headed down to the lobby to eat some breakfast. As he smeared the jelly on his toast, he noticed out of the corner of his eye someone looking at him. He turned away quickly and sat down at one of the many wooden tables that were spewed throughout the area. He pulled out his phone to find a message from Liam.

"What r u up to today?" It read.

Louis quickly typed out a response, as the message had been sent over an hour ago. Liam always was quite the earlier riser. More often than not Louis would stumble down the stairs in the morning only to find Liam spread out on the sofa watching the morning news, or sipping orange juice while he cooked eggs and sausage or something similar.

"Not much, trying to find an apartment or somewhere 2 stay"

Liam had always been the one person he could always count on. They had met back when Louis had first been trying to open up his studio. Louis had posted an ad for a roommate, seeming as he often got lonely. Liam had called him up and they had met up for coffee.

Liam was a very nice looking young lad at the time, being 18 at the time and Louis having just turned 20. He had been looking for a place to stay while going to a local arts college. His wavy brown hair and dazzling brown eyes certainly has seemed to charm Danielle, his girlfriend of 2 years.

As he finished his toast, he felt a small tap on his shoulder. Turning around, he saw that it was the worker from the front desk that had been looking at him before. His brown eyes locking with his own as he handed him what looked like the newspaper.

“Looked like you’re not from around here?” he asked and took a seat across from him. Louis noticed that like himself, he had a Brittish accent.

“I just got into town last night from New York City.” Louis confirmed. Looking the boy over, he assumed that he was the same age as Louis, if not younger or older. He had his dark hair styled into a quiff.

“Are you just visiting, or planning on staying for a while?” the dark haired one asked.

“However long it takes to get over her” Louis said quietly, the last part to himself. The boy brushed some crumbs off his shirt.

“Do you need help looking for a place to stay? I’m Zayn by the way.” He said, reaching his right hand across the table to shake hands with Louis.

“Are you sure that’s not any trouble? I mean I was just planning on going flat hunting today but if it’s no problem to you to help…” Louis rambled.

“Of course it’s fine. The hotel is never busy, plus my shift is almost over as it is. What was your name?” Zayn asked as he pulled out his phone, Louis assumed he had most likely received a text.

“Louis. My name’s Louis.” He said. The boy sitting across from him, Zayn, smiled.

“So where are you from in the UK?” He asked. Louis smiled, finding comfort in someone who had somewhat of the same roots as him.

“I’m from Doncaster, how about you?”

“Bradford. So we’re not from that far apart” The boys smiled at each other. Louis had a feeling that he and Zayn were going to be great friends.

It turned out that Zayn also had sisters, and that he moved to the US for college He was 20, just a year younger than Louis. He had agreed to help Louis find somewhere to live, and after getting to know Louis a bit, he thought that he knew someone that Louis could room with.

“Just follow me” Zayn had said as he set off walking towards the front enterance.

Louis had followed him and they had walked for quite a few blocks until he reached what appeared to be an apartment building. Zayn motioned for Louis to follow him into the building and up the steps.

Louis felt nervous, as he didn’t know who Zayn was planning on having him meet. What if this person didn’t like him? Or what if this person was strange and Louis didn’t like them? They walked up the steps to the third floor; apparently the elevator had been broken for months and wasn’t going to be repaired anytime soon.

Nervousness snuck into Louis’ stomach as they approached the door. Zayn knocked and they waited for the door to open.

“I haven’t exactly told Harry that I’d be stopping by. I’m sure he won’t mind though, I mean he’s been looking for a decent roommate for what seems like forever.” Louis smiled, but the statement didn’t calm his nerves any.

The door opened slightly to find a boy with morning hair that was curly, wearing a white t-shirt and a pair of what looked like basketball shorts. His green eyes appeared tired and slightly aggravated when he looked at Zayn, and Louis assumed that he had just woken up.

“What do you want, Malik?” His voice croaked and he cleared it before Zayn answered him.

“I found you a roommate. What do you think?” Zayn sighed, appearing tired as Louis realized that he had worked the night shift and was probably beat.

Harry’s eyes snapped to Louis’ blue ones. He scanned Louis over carefully, his face expressionless.

“What’s your name then?” He asked, meeting Louis’ eyes once again.

”I’m Louis.” He said, offering a small smile. The boy intimidated him for a reason he didn’t know, most likely because he was a lot taller than me. Harry slightly smiled back and opened the door wider to let Zayn and Louis into the apartment. Zayn strolled over to sit on the couch in the center of the room, and Louis followed suit.

“So you want to be my roommate?” Harry asked once he sat down on the recliner across from Zayn and Louis.

“ Umm… Yeah… Basically…” Louis trailed off. Harry broke out in a full grin, which Louis returned.

“Okay” Harry said, the smile creeping into his voice. Zayn stood up stretching his arms even though he’d just sat down”

“Okay then, Louis do you want to come with me back to the hotel to grab your stuff and then you can come back here by yourself to get situated?” Zayn asked glancing over at Harry who appeared to be trying to stay awake, himself. He nodded and bid his goodbyes to Harry for now and followed Zayn out the door and back into the cold January morning air to start his new life in Boston, at least for now.
