"Gavi, you got this," I tell my mirror image with a serious expression on my face. "You are a professional football player. You're used to being in the spotlight and to people coming up to you for an autograph or photo. This is just like any other situation but you're the one coming up to someone. Just go talk to her and everything is going to be fine," I continue and slap my cheek lightly for encouragement.

In my mind, I don't believe a single word because this doesn't feel like any other situation I've ever had. And she's not just some random girl I want to impress. Or is she? Arrrg, I really don't know what I want from her and why I am so attracted to her. There are thousands of girls waiting to be noticed by me but still I don't want them because they're not special. Or how do I know when I have never given any of them a chance? But somewhere in the depths of my mind I have a feeling that she is a special one. One you don't want to lose no matter what. I guess only time will tell.

When I see her doing that same photography thing she did the day before, all I can think of is now or never so I go up to her.

"Hi, I'm Gavi. I saw you taking pictures yesterday and I'm wondering when are you free? My friend and I are in need of a photographer so we would really appreciate it if we could have a photoshoot with you?" I ask.

Fuck. I should have come up with something else. I had a good plan to ask her to spend time with me but everything disappeared from my mind the moment I got close to her. Now she probably thinks I'm just an arrogant footballer who wants to use her talent. Fuck me, fuck me, fuck me...

"Sounds like a lot of fun! I'm definitely in. I'm not a professional photographer though but I will try my best! I don't have anything to do until England's match at 9pm so we can go whenever you and your friend are free," I hear her say.

I look up from the football field and meet her gaze. "Brilliant, we have practice for two hours from now and game at 9pm as well but between those we're free," I answer and then add with a shy smile, "Can I get your number so I can text you the time and place?"

"Yeah absolutely!" she says and writes her number down. I save it to my contacts as 'red dress girl'.
