Everything was a blur. Only small fragments of memory flashed in his head so suddenly and without warning. Anything small like soda cans surrounding a bowl of nachos would trigger these flashbacks, giving him an insufferable headache afterwards. The only thing Gary could remember from the GMetrix Holiday party was waking up with a hangover in the middle of a field. While searching for his phone and wallet all he found was a post-it note saying, “I know what you did.”
It’s been two days since the party and still nothing, no leads to what happened that night. Just nauseating headaches. He decided to look at the post-it note again, as it might be the only thing that could give him some clue. Gary stared at the note, noticing the handwriting. It looks familiar, he took note that the writing looks feminine. It couldn’t be Pop Pop Gorge, his handwriting didn’t look pretty. Grandma Jean writes in cursive, and the writing isn’t cursive. Gary's thoughts run wild as he tries to analyze the post-it note, until finally he figures it out.
“So, you finally realized who wrote that note.” Gary’s head turned to see Gloria leaning against the door frame for dramatic effect. His face turned to worry as he asked Gloria what happened that night. Gloria spoke of a beast that went rampant and destroyed the party. Injured one of the party participants that it was a miracle they even survived. Poor Mary Dayquil, the injuries that she describes were gut-curtling, and nauseatingly specific that I can’t type out because I’m trying to keep this as PG as possible. The detail was so horrific that it gave Gary goose bumps. The beast was hunched standing at least 6 ft, it was foaming at the mouth, and had dilated pupils with claws as long as its fingers to compliment Gloria locked eyes with the monster before it ran off into the night.
“I’ve seen a lot of weird stuff, but this takes the cake.” Gloria concluded. He thought to himself for a good while then he spoke, “So.. You think that creature was me?” Gary sounded worrisome, like he didn’t want to believe that the monster that harmed Mary. Gloria had in her hand a red polka-dotted bow tie that she threw to Gary’s bed so he could get a better look at it. “What do you think?” She spoke with displeasure in her voice, “that was found near her body, before she was sent to the hospital.” His face turned from utter disbelief to pure horror. He put his hand to his neck only to find out that his tie wasn’t there. His breathing quickened and this heartbeat sped up, as every detail of what happened at the GMetrix Holiday party started to rush back in his head all at once. It all made since now, the clothes that were worn from that night were drenched in red, it was him. He spoke in a quiet, shivering voice, “It was an accident..”
