(Heyyy guys^^ sorry for being so absent lol. I hit a major writers block. I logged out and when I logged back in I seen I had 99+ notifications😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 granted, some weren't from here but y'all sure did love this book lol. I did happen to write another short one in class so I hope you like it^^)

“I mean… I don't know if this is a good idea. There's memories behind these.” Y/n said, holding onto a shoebox of cards, letters, and gifts from their toxic ex. You had held onto it awhile and every time you saw it, you would just hit a depressive spiral. Friend, who was now more than a ‘friend’, insisted on burning all of it. He said it would be relieving. You were on board, but now that you had the box in your arms, you were regretting it. That was a lot of memories. Friend snatched the box from you and chuckled. “Come on. I know this is a good idea. Trust me. It’ll help you get over them once and for all. I wouldn’t just want you to burn stuff I didn't think you needed.

You hummed and nodded. “I suppose. Let's just get this over with.” You whimpered. He gently took your wrist and brought you outside where he had already lighten the fire pit. He could feel the uncertainty in your hands. He knew it would help, you just needed to get through it first. “Hey, it's alright, we'll go a little at a time.” He said in a soft voice, causing you to calm down a little more. Just then you both came up on the fire pit.

“Alright, what should we start with?” You asked. “Hm….” Friend started searching through the box. “How about this birthday card? From what I remember, this card is all they got you. Didn’t even put money in it.” You chuckled and shook your head. “Yea. Not that I expected money, but with everything I got them, you’d think I'd get a little more than a card at least. Burn it.” He smiled and threw it in. You watched as the fire devoured the card whole. You hated to admit it, but that felt nice.

“Alright, theirs this necklace. Looks pretty cheap.”  He said, pulling out a necklace. It was a cheaply made golden necklace with a heart on it. It would've been cute… if it wasn't obviously bought on sale at a walmart. “Yup, burn it. I've got plenty anyway.” You watched him throw that in the fire as well. One after another, you watched as he pulled out little items. Stuff that had meaning at one point, but lost it awhile ago. You realized how much better Friend was than them. They didn’t deserve you. They didn't deserve your tears. Eventually you made a big decision.

“Hey Friend, can I see the box?” You asked. He looked at you confused but handed you the box. You peaked in. This was mostly the stuff you cried over. Little notes and letters, a drawing, a paper they had kissed. It almost hurt. Then you smiled and dumped everything else into the fire. “It can all burn, I don't need them. I have you, that's all I need.” You said, throwing the box off to the side. He smiled.

“That's the spirit. Feelin’ better, are you?” You nodded, walking up to him and hugging him. “Much. Thank you so much, for everything.” He hugged back and picked you up. “Of course now, cuddle and movie on the couch?” You nodded. “That would be nice. The fire will burn out on its own eventually.” You grinned, knowing exactly where your night was going.
