Alieras POV
Drip Drip Drip
I watch as the never ending droplets dribble from the ceiling of my cell. The coolness of the dark rich stone sits beneath me, cooling the pit of fire I discovered 2 months ago but cannot figure out how to awaken again.
If I knew how to chanel it I would most definitely not be sitting on this half torn, rotting mattress.
2 months I've been in this cell that holds nothing more than a mattress, a bucket and my bloody body. Brick surrounds me, from the walls to the floors to the blackness I stare up into at night, my only source of light being the small barred window facing east.
I watch the sunset every night, it's the only beautiful thing my eyes see these days. I watch as the sun sinks and the pinks, purples, reds and blues dance around it, saying goodbye until they meet again.
I receive 1 meal a day, usually consisting of stale bread and whatever other scraps these people throw my way.
My body has faded into near nothing, withering away day by day.
My attire was changed before I awoke, the only clothing items I own are the pair of black tunic pants I wear along with a matching top.
No showers, no bathing of any kind.
In my 2 months of being here I have not seen a single faerie. I don't know who is holding me here, I don't even understand why. My meals are slid under the steel door and my bucket magically empties itself.
Though I have made a friend... or acquaintance I don't know. A guard named jack who mans my door, we talk sometimes...well I talk to him and sometimes he replies.
I spoke to him about my mother a few weeks after I arrived, I jus- I just needed someone to talk to, to vent to, to cry to. I'm pretty sure I've told the stranger who is pretty much keeping me in this place my entire life story by now.
And he just listened... Or ignored me and stood in silence I don't know.
Every now and again jack would comment or ask a question, knowing that speaking to me would earn him a world of pain if caught. He risked it to keep me from going insane. Sometimes he even sneaked me an apple.
I learned much about the guard behind the door too.
I learnt that he has two younger sisters, one named Ella and the other Camille, both Younger. His parents died when he was quite young, leaving him to look after his sisters, hence why he serves whoever is holding me here. His favourite colour is blue, light blue like the sky and his favourite food is beef stew.
It's taken me a couple of months to get it out of him but it was worth it.
I ask jack why I'm here and who he works for but he goes quiet every time, all he says is
'You won't be harmed'Maybe I won't ever leave, maybe I'll rot in this cell the rest of my immortal life, maybe I won't.
All I know is that nothing will ever be the same.

'Jack?'
I receive a hum in response from the other side of the door, making me proceed. 'What colour are your eyes?'
A few seconds go by, 'Green' the guard returns quickly.
I try and imagine the kind of green they are, green like Forrest green trees? Green like fresh grass? Or green like an emerald?
I sit on his answer for a moment, imagining what he may look like. 'Mine are green too' I say, leaning my head against the cool brick to my right.
A few seconds go by, 'maybe we're soulmates' amusement lightly fills his voice before going quiet again. I roll my eyes in return, 'your an ass'
We continue to have small conversations over the rest of the day as per usual.
Nightfall quickly comes as I lay my weak body to rest on the thin mattress, 'Goodnight Jack' I whisper, trying to find the courage to return to my nightmares again.
'Sleep well Aliera.'
My world turns black at his words.
—————————
We meet again my child, oh how I've tried to reach you.
I stare into a black well, surrounded by the black night.
The well before me is built with black brick, going for miles and miles beneath the surface.
'Who are you?' My voice leaves me before I can even think about what I'm saying.
You will find out soon enough, you've lost your fire little one. We need to fix that.
What?
'I-I don't want it I don't want the fire I just want to go home, please let me go home.' I plead as silent tears stream down my face.
A soft laugh echos upwards... asshole.
You have to fight Aliera, it is the only way.
'Fight what!?'
Yourself.
I feel my body burning, the heat simmering behind my fingertips, my body is reacting to this thing speaking to me. It's burning at the sound of its voice.
A painful grunt presses against my lips as it scorches my insides.
Fire shoots up out of the well, throwing me back onto the gravel behind me, I grunt from the impact. My body reacts to it, trying to pour out fire of its own, burning my insides, begging for a release.
I thrash on the ground, screams escaping my dry throat.
'No! Make it stop.. PLEASE! MAKE IT STOP!'
A gasp escapes my mouth as I fly up from my mattress, my eyes stare into two unfamiliar green ones.
'Who-
The male clamps his large hand over my mouth, pulling me up.
'It's Jack, they are coming for you. We have to go. NOW'
