Your head was spinning in immense pain after making contact with a tree just minutes before, and you cleared your way through the forest. you made sure to spare occasional glances back to your mortified friend whom was close behind.
they were gaining on you, and rather fast. it seemed almost inhuman how quick witted and agile those that hunted you all down were. as if they couldn't become any more terrifying, they had to have impossibly amazing abilities to help them get to you faster.
"up ahead, it's a dead end!" Marcey screamed. her booming voice up ahead had reached you in two ways. you were now petrified— or more so than before. you didn't know how you would escape this nightmare. you rapidly approached the clearing where a shaking Marcey stood in horror as she stared down at the ravine below.
"we have to jump," you choked out as you waited anxiously for your other friend, Andre, to arrive.he chucked another branch back at those chasing you in an attempt to at least slow them down. to yours and everyone else's dismay, the one wielding hatchets dodged them with ease, ducking down and allowing them to slap his partner in the head. the distraction somewhat worked. for a split second, you swore you saw the Jack Torrance wannabe's goggles glisten in the moonlight, and you caught a flashing glimpse of his chestnut colored eyes narrowing at Andre who had just—
you couldn't believe your eyes. right before your eyes, was the bottom of the ravine. a body of water rested not too far down. not far enough to kill you, yet not short of a jump enough to avoid a nasty injury upon carrying out the insane action. your friends around you didn't have to think twice, and in the spur of the moment, they took the leap of faith to meet the crashing waves down below. you followed suit, not wasting anymore time to get the hell out of Dodgeville and retreat to safety.
you felt the wind whip your hair every which way as you plunged to the bottom rapidly. you were safe.
that was until a rough hand wrapped around your wrist and yanked you up mercilessly.
"gotcha."
