Jade is a lady of many secrets. She walks with her head held by the untruths she has yet to tell.

Her own past is traumatic but she still puts herself in these life threatening situations. Every time. She'll push herself past her limit, for what? A mere feeling of satisfaction that she handled a life or death situation that she would've been unable to handle had she been the small little girl from her town that everyone thought was lying.

I sympathize with her but I won't stop her. If I had more than 20 minutes on the field then I'd be the same knowing its my chance to pretend as though I could handle anything. Fill in the void of not handling it while handling an entirely different situation but all the same at the same time. It's sad.

I remember we were getting ready for a night out, in my house. Derek was away for business so I was rebelling for the night that he was away. She insisted on doing my makeup so because I liked sitting back and letting her do her thing, I agreed. She got out her brushes and took my makeup bag. I sat down while she sat on the countertop for the sink. She poured herself half a glass of wine and was wearing her over dramatic gown.

Jade is overdramatic.

She gently brushed the foundation on my skin while the soothing music poured out of the speakers in the background. I gazed around her face, since it was up close. Her skin wasn't always clear, it had the occasional pimple or two. It was fair and always looked dewy, clean, porcelain. Her pink lips stood out, even if they were almost paper thin.

"Don't do that." She whispered in a groggy tone as she swiped the brush across my skin.

"Do what?" I prompted.

"Look at me like you want what I have." She pulled back to examine my face. I pulled my eyebrows together and she sighed. "The way you were looking at my face. It seemed as though you wanted what I had"

"I was just admiring it. Your face." I clarified.

"What's there to admire? It's just a face." She scoffed, leaning forward to continue with my face.

"A beautiful face." My words seemed to shock her because her brush stopped moving. "You're beautiful, Jade."

"Thank you." She dismissed quite quickly and I noticed. I noticed her quick blink before she dismissed it.

"I'm telling the truth, you know. You are beautiful. You are an ethereal being." She glanced down at my eyes, searching.

Searching for a lie, when there was none. I was always true to my word and right there I was most truthful. She could see it but she couldn't believe it.

"I'm thin, I'm pale and I'm mean. Nothings beautiful about me."

"Who told you that?"

"No one." She answered almost immediately. I stopped for a second and thought about it.
