'I wish you could provide me with a little space in your heart, Nathaniel...'
Emitting a long sigh, my elbow adjacent to my table. It's been a month of our marriage and we are still where we started. Nothing changed, it's still the loop of anguish knocking upon my hollowness.
"Is everything alright, Madam?" David asked.
"I wish."
Muttering, my eyes momentarily rested, inclining back to release my tension.
I am so close to becoming one with him while in reality we are miles apart.
After engrossing my mind in work, I leaned on the wall, watching the sun set with a deeply woeful smile.
"If you don't mind, can I ask you something, Madam?" David asked, humming in response, my hand wrapped around my body, eyes affixed outside.
"Why are you so depressed?"
"Do I seem depressed?" Breathing out, my smile grew wider.
"Yes. Is something bothering you?" He asked hesitantly.
"Are you afraid that he will-'' Sending a death-glare, I stopped him.
"Don't you fucking dare to repeat that." Startled by my growl, he looked down.
"I apologize, Madam, I am simply vexed about your state." He said sadly, he's been with me through my darkest night so I could understand his worry.
"What can I tell you when my canvas consists of emptiness, David?" My voice was soft, the beguiling sight urged me to hold the same freedom as the sky does but these were nothing but mere delusions.
"I don't understand." He raised a brow at my demeanor.
"Meaning my dreams don't hold a foundation." At this point, I could feel my voice cracking from inside for being unable to share my feelings. The true feelings of Zariah.
"And what exactly are your dreams?" Nathaniel came, gasping at his uninvited welcome, my mind dazed for a second.
"Leave us alone." Ordering David sternly, he walked to me with a serious expression.
"What are you doing here?" I asked impassively.
"Am I not allowed to meet my wife?" He asked, pressing me against the wall.
"This is not your building." I retorted, my heart clenches every time I see his oblivion.
"But their Boss surely is."
"Yeah, a mere possession." Scoffing, I rolled off my eyes, closing my arms.
"Darling when you are aware of your worth then why bother with this pretense?" He smirked, sliding a finger under my chin, forcing me to look at him.
"Everything is an affectation to you." I hissed.
'Why can't you notice my pain?! Why is it so hard to know the affliction my heart goes through?! '
"May I know the reason for this rage?" He asked, almost baffled by my reactions.
"No."
"Why?"
"Because even if you know, you wouldn't care."
Scowling, I maintained a distance to leave but he held my wrist, asking direly, "What makes you think I don't care, Zariah?"
The intensity of his voice sent a shiver down my spine.
The flicker of ire as if my words hurt him but I know it was nothing but a ruse.
