Wednesday eagerly anticipated Friday, counting down the hours until her supposed date with Dahlia. She had no idea what her friend had planned, but she knew it would be thrilling. Currently, she sat at a cafe in Jericho, still pondering her encounter with the Nightshades. She wondered if they knew about the monster and their connection to it. Lost in thought, her eyes fixated on a picture of her and Joseph Crackstone, which she had discovered during Outreach day.
Suddenly, her contemplation was interrupted by a familiar face. Tyler sat down at her table, attempting to engage her in conversation. Wednesday couldn't help but wonder why he was trying so hard to talk to her.
'Hi Wednesday,' Tyler sat down at the table with her. Wednesday stared at him, wondering why he was trying so hard to hold a conversation with her.
'Hello,' she replied, shifting her gaze back to the drawing, flipping the cover of the book to learn more about it. Tyler smiled, happy to be acknowledged.
'I was about to leave and go for a walk. My shift is almost over.'
Wednesday stared at him again.'What are you implying Tyler?' she hoped that she sounded exasperated, but unfortunately some people are not very good at taking hints.
'This new bookshop opened up, so I was thinking that maybe you'd be curious, ' he replied.
Wednesday considered it for a moment.'I would be interested in seeing it, but quite frankly I am waiting for someone.' Wednesday still didn't look him in the eyes, flipping through the pages of the book. Tyler sighed audibly.
'Is it that vampire you always hang out with? The Romanian girl?'
Before Wednesday could reply, he continued.
'Listen, I wouldn't know anything about it, but she seems-'
'I'm warning you, Tyler,' this time it was her that cut him off. Tyler raised his hands, surrendering.
'I'm just saying. She's dangerous and-'
'One more word and I will make you eat them.' she threatened him for the second time, finally making him shut up. 'Also, I am waiting for Enid. Do me a favor and leave please.' Tyler clenched his jaw again and left her alone. Wednesday suppressed a smile, still feeling mad about the fact that someone dared to insult her sweet Dahlia.
'Bianca hurry up please I'm about to collapse' she heard Dahlia's voice as she and Bianca entered the café, both carrying around 10 books each and also their purses.
They must have visited the new bookshop Tyler mentioned, she thought as she felt a sting of jealousy.
Wednesday's heart skipped a beat as she watched Dahlia enter the room and place her books down. Dahlia stretched her hands, and Wednesday couldn't help but admire her outfit - a casual yet chic long-sleeved black dress with a cutout around the middle, printed with little moons all over. Her hair was styled in two high ponytails, and she wore what appeared to be a pair of Doc Martens. Wednesday was so captivated by Dahlia's appearance that she didn't even realize she was staring until Dahlia looked through her purse and made her way to the counter.
'Hi, can I get an iced cappuccino, please? And... An espresso with sugar for my friend, ' she said staring at the menu without noticing Tyler, who stood behind the counter. When she noticed, her face dropped and she crossed her arms. 'Oh, you're still here. Why?'
