Long brown hair, chocolate eyes and a perfect facial structure. On the outside, Ivy Brooks seemed like every guy's dream girl but everyone knows how peculiar she really is.
The 19 year old Puerto Rican girl certainly didn't care what people thought of her, why would she? She has an amazing career. Ivy doesn't care about the standards that society has set. Despite that, she knows that she is missing something, the thing that she has craved for so long: someone to care for her.
Ivy has no information on anyone in her family. All she can remember is that she was born and raised in Puerto Rico until she was a year old, from there she was somehow put in an orphanage in NYC. She was an orphan until her 18th birthday when they set her free. Even living in a house full of other children, Ivy has always felt alone; something about her caused people to keep their distance and she decided to embrace that.
Now she still lives in NYC in a huge condo of the top floor of a skyscraper. Being a photographer in the music industry pays for things like that and then some. Most photographers in her field become best friends with some of the biggest names in music but not Ivy, she mostly keeps to herself, not allowing people to get too close to her.
Ivy POV:
My plane just landed in Ohio, a place I've never really thought of visiting. Someone by the name of Ashleigh Veverka contacted me and told me how much she loved my work and wanted me to photograph a 3 day festival that her and her team were having. EST Fest I think? Anyway, after some research I found out that she manages Machine Gun Kelly; I don't know much about him but the few songs that I have heard from him are pretty good.
When I walk out of the terminal, I immediately spot Ashleigh, thanks to all of my google image searches.
When I stopped in front of her, her eyes widened. "Wow, you're even prettier in person." She smiled.
Complements always make me uncomfortable because I don't believe a single one of them.
"Uh, thanks." I mumbled as we left the airport.
On the long drive to the venue for the festival, the car was completely silent. I bet she's wondering why I haven't said a word.
Ashleigh took her eyes off the road and looked over at me. "You don't talk much...do you?"
I shook my head and sighed. "No, I'm not very good at conversations...or talking to people in general for that matter."
"And why is that?"
"Look, I actually like the silence....so can we not? I'm not a person you want to get to know anyway." I snapped.
"I guess everything I heard about you was right." Ashleigh mumbled.
I rolled my eyes. "And I guess I don't give a shit. I didn't peg you for the judgmental type."
"Sorry."
"I'm sure you are." I bit back.
A little while later, we pulled up to the venue and there were people everywhere, laughing and having fun.
"Follow me, I'll introduce you to the guys." Ashleigh said, interrupting my thoughts.
"No thanks, just let me do my job. And then I'll be out of your hair in no time." I replied, walking off to find a place to set up.
Rook POV:
"So where's our photographer at Ash?" Kells asked as he walked up and took the bag of chips I was eating out of.
"Get your own bag fucker." I mumbled.
He smiled at me. "Shut up. I'll get you a new one."
"Well, she's an odd one. I think she just wants to be alone." Ash replied.
"Her name's Ivy...right?" I asked.
Ash nodded.
Kells snapped his fingers. "I follow her on Instagram. That chick is fucking hot." He said.
Ash rolled her eyes. "K, please do not try to sleep with our photographer. I want her to feel comfortable working with us."
Kells wiggled his eyebrows. "Oh she'll be real comfortable."
I laughed as Ash slapped his arm. "Well good luck, she's a tough nut to crack."
Despite what Ash has said about Ivy, I really want to meet her. We haven't added a new person to the crew in a while and it would be nice to add another female to the mix, maybe it'll even things out.
"We don't have much time to worry about it, we've got our first meet up with everyone." Kells spoke up.
"He's right." Ash nodded.
******
The sun is starting to set and everyone is sitting around a huge bonfire, drinking and sharing stories and experiences.
I scanned the sea of people and noticed a beautiful brunette with an expensive looking camera up to her face. Once she got a shot, she looked down at the screen of her camera and smiled. I instantly realized who she is. She is absolutely beautiful, there's a smile on her face despite the fact that she's sitting all alone.
She wore a black crop top, black cut off shorts and a pair of black Chucks. Everything about her seemed dark, but it only makes me a lot more interested.
"Go over and talk to her." Slim leaned over and whispered in my ear.
I looked over at him. "What?"
He narrowed his eyes at me and smacked his lips. "I've been watching you drool over her for about ten minutes bro." He chuckled.
I shook my head and stood up but as soon as I looked over at her, we locked eyes and her expression became unreadable.
Ivy quickly got up and ran in another direction. She obviously knew that I was getting up to talk to her.
I quickly got up and followed her until she stopped running. Ivy turned around and harshly slapped me across the face.
"What the fuck do you want?" She yelled. "Why were you staring at me? Following me?" Her chest was rapidly rising and falling from her heavy breathing.
"I just want to talk to you!" I replied, still feeling the sting on my cheek.
"Bullshit! No one ever wants to just talk to me." She mumbled, walking away again and this time I definitely didn't try to follow her.
