| RED'S POV |

My mind froze, making it hard to understand what was happening. I tried to move, but something held me back, trapping me.

I watched the boy, who had the girl's full attention. She seemed really into him, while he ignored her and focused on me with intense eyes.

I should've turned away or left, pretending I didn't see. But I was too confused and couldn't think clearly. Sadly, my body stayed put.

In the quiet, I heard the girl's soft sounds. I couldn't see her face, just her bright lipstick as she moved with him.

You're such a bad girl, you know," he uttered nonchalantly, his unwavering gaze still fixed on me.

"Only for you, Xavier," she whispered in response.

I wasn't sure who he meant. But then he leaned toward her, like he was going to bite her neck.

And then I saw his fangs.

He was a vampire. A creature of the night.

Was he really going to hurt her while they were being intimate?

As he bit her neck deeper, she seemed to enjoy it.

What made it worse? His eyes seemed to pierce into me as he drank her blood, making their encounter even more uncomfortable.

"Yes! Ohh, damn, yes!!" her moans persisted, and I wished she would silence herself, for fear of Miss Allyn discovering this sinful act occurring within her sanctuary.

Averting my gaze, I wanted to pour acid into my eyes, but thankfully, she finally released her grip, emitting an audible gasp.

He withdrew his fangs from her neck, leaving traces of blood on his lips.

"When can we meet again?" she asked, fixing her messed-up uniform, which probably smelled of their time together. It seemed like this kind of thing wasn't unusual here.

But that wasn't enough for him.

I couldn't see his face, but as she hugged him, I figured it was time for me to leave.

Feeling relieved to be away from his intense gaze, I started to back away slowly, hoping to change the mood.

"Soon, but I have something important to do first," he said seriously, making me wonder if it was about someone.

His words made me feel urgent. I looked around, trying to find a way out of the maze of books, but I realized I was lost.

Of course, I couldn't remember how to leave.

My heart raced, making it hard to think clearly. Then, before I knew it, my arms were grabbed and pinned against a bookshelf.

I froze, filled with panic, and shut my eyes tight.

"Did you like what you saw?" he asked, his breath smelling like blood.

"What do you mean?" I whispered, keeping my eyes shut.

"Don't pretend," he snapped, holding me tightly so I couldn't escape.

"Open your eyes," he ordered, but I shook my head, refusing.

"You dare disobey me? Open your eyes, or I'll make you," he threatened angrily.

My eyes flew open, scared into obeying his order. Looking at him, I felt both amazed and scared. He had a powerful presence, with features that seemed almost magical.

His messy hair somehow added to his appeal. I couldn't stop staring at his face, especially his golden eyes that held mine without wavering. They seemed dark and mysterious, making me wonder if he was angry about being caught. I knew that feeling too well.

I felt ashamed for being here, witnessing such a private moment in the library. It felt like something from a dream, not real life.

He seemed curious about me, wanting to know who I was. I wanted to tell him my name, but the words wouldn't come out.

Instead, I ended up saying something silly, "You're... pretty," I blurted out, immediately regretting my choice of words. Did I just call a vampire "pretty"?

He looked surprised for a moment, then grinned. "I've been called many things, but 'pretty' is new," he said, showing off his perfect teeth. It was strange to see them so clean after what he'd just done.

I felt jealous, which was odd considering the situation.

"Um, could you back up a bit?" I asked, hoping for some space between us.

"Why should I?" he asked, moving closer, almost too close for comfort. I couldn't move my head, worried that any movement might lead to an accidental kiss.

"I don't like the smell of blood," I explained, trying to make myself clear. After a moment of confusion, he burst out laughing, finding my request funny.

"You're funny, but weird," he said, still looking at me.

"How?" I asked, puzzled. In a world where vampires existed, I couldn't understand why I'd stand out.

"I don't smell any creature's blood on you, but there's a different scent, like you're not..." His voice trailed off. My uncle's warning echoed in my mind: "Don't get caught."

"I'm new here," I said, trying to change the subject. "You heard about the Crystal incident, right?" I hoped to distract him.

"Yeah, that was you," he said, nodding.

We went quiet as he looked me over, making me uneasy. But instead of saying what he thought, he smirked, keeping it to himself.

"Let's forget what happened and introduce ourselves properly," he suggested. Reluctantly, I agreed, though I couldn't forget.

"I'm Xavier Woods," he said, his name sounding elegant.

"I'm Red Musee," I replied. He burst out laughing. "That's a terrible last name. Green eyes would be better."

"No," I said firmly, not wanting to use that name. He stared at me intensely.

Before I could argue more, footsteps approached. Miss Allyn, the librarian, appeared, disapproving.

"I don't allow such discussions here. I thought you were here to read," she scolded us.

"She was interested, but maybe her mind wandered," Xavier said with a smirk.

"I was-" I started, but he interrupted.

"It was nice seeing your green eyes, but I have to go. This place smells," he said, walking away.

"Stay away from Xavier," Miss Allyn warned me. "He may be the principal's son, but he's rotten."

Rotten?
