Shivering, Then Slipping (TMNT)

Karai and the turtles go on patrol and Karai unintentionally slips into littlespace...and runs away out of fear of her family finding out she's a little and not accepting her!

Karai's little age is 4 for this oneshot!

It was a frigid night on patrol. The turtles and Karai were on their nightly patrol. The turtles were desssed in warm jackets, scarves, and hats since they were more susceptible to the cold.

Karai stood by them, shivering. She'd forgotten her jacket and only had on a long-sleeved shirt. She was starting to get cold! "Shell, it's cold tonight." Raph muttered, tightening his scarf.

"Totally, it's probably the coldest night we've had in a while!" Mikey agreed cheerfully. "It is rather brisk." Donnie added. "Good thing patrol isn't too much longer, hang in there, team!" Leo encouraged.

Karai shivered more, feeling colder. She hated the cold! How could she forget her warm jacket on such a cold night? The girl rubbed her arms with her hands. "Aren't you cold, sis? You don't even have a jacket!" Mikey asked in concern.

Karai gulped. She could feel herself start to slip into littlespace from being so cold and growing upset. Not now, not in front of them! She told herself, trying to suppress her little side, but failing.

"Karai?" Donnie spoke up, realizing she hadn't responded to Mikey. "You okay, aneki?" Leo asked in concern. Karai was violently shaking. She felt so cold, scared, and...small. She'd slipped into littlespace.

"U-Um..." Karai mumbled, her teeth chattering. They all looked at her in confusion and concern as Karai started sucking on her thumb out of habit to calm herself. Her anxiety was rising like an overflowing bucket of mutageon.

"What are you doin'?" Raph questioned her as Leo and Mikey started asking her questions as well out of concern, wondering why she was acting so weird. Karai couldn't take it....

They were gonna find out!

In a flash, the regressed girl ran as fast as she could. "Karai, wait!" Donnie called. "Where are you going?" But Karai didn't stop. She continued running and she was pretty fast too. The brothers soon lost her.

The terrapins were both confused and concerned. Karai obviously forgot her jacket and didn't wanna admit how cold she was. Then, she was acting abnormally. Now, she was off alone in the cold.

"Dudes, why would she run off?" Mikey frowned. "I don't know, but we have to find her!" Leo said quickly. Raph nodded in agreement, worried. They looked around for their sister but couldn't find her.

"We need more help..." Leo called Master Splinter. Meanwhile, the rat wss in the dojo when the cheese phone rang. "The cheese phone...my dad senses are tingling...Moshi mpshi?" Splinter answered it.

"Dad, Karai ran off! We don't know why but we can't find her, she forgot her jacket and was acting strangely...we need help finding her!" Leo explained. Splinter's eyes widened in shock.

"I will be right there." He hung up the phone, bundled up, and headed up to the surface. A few minutes later, all of them were searching for the missing girl, wondering where she could be and why she ran off.

Meanwhile, Karai was in an abandoned building. That's where she kept all of her little space stuff. She couldn't keep it in the lair, out of fear someone would find it. Only two people knew her secret...

April and Casey.

The little one shivered, absolutely freezing. She had a blanket, but it wasn't warm enough on a night like this. She also had toys, a pacifier which was currently in her mouth, a plush deer, and a sippy cup of water. Though, none of that would help warm her up.

But, she had an idea of what would.

Meanwhile, the turtles and Splinter were still searching for Karai, getting more and more worried. Splinter clutched her jacket and scarf in his hand, so he could give it to her as soon as they found her.

"Oh, my daughter, come back to us...." Splinter whispered. Raph wrapped his arms around his father. "We'll find her, dad..." Mikey joined in. "We've got to..." Leo joined in as well. "She's got to be here..."

Raph called April and Casey explained the situation. The turtles didn't know Karai was a little, but April and Casey were the first and only ones she told. They both promised not to tell them until Karai wanted her family to know.

April and Casey soon arrived. They had an idea of where Karai was, but couldn't tell the turtles or Splinter yet. "We'll help you look!" Casey said. "We'll search in this part of the city." April added, worried. "Okay, let us know if you find her..." Raph replied.

April and Casey both went to an abandoned building. They had a feeling Karai was there. "I wonder if she slipped." April hummed. "Maybe, hopefully she's okay..." Casey responded.

In the abandoned building was little Karai, trying to build a fire. But, her regressed brain had no idea how. "Karai!" Casey ran up to her. Karai looked up at them.

"We had a feeling you'd be here...are you in littlespace...?" April asked gently. Karai nodded with a sniffle. "Yes...I'm so cold..." She shivered. "I was twying to build a fiwe, but I dunno how..."

She cuddled into Casey and April for warmth as they hugged her close, trying to warm her up. The regressed little smiled a bit at the close contact. She craved it when she was in littlespace.

"Karai, your dad and brothers are looking for you, they're really worried...can I call them and have them come here?" Casey asked. "Otay...but what if they don't accept me...?" Karai asked with teary eyes.

April held the upset girl close. "I'm sure they'll accept you, little one...they're your family and they love you so much..." Casey hugged Karai close as well. "April's right, kiddo..." Casey smiled a bit.

Karai took a deep breath. "Otay, you can call them nows..." Casey called Raph and told him where they were. A few minutes later, the turtles and Splinter entered the building, immediately going to Karai.

"Sis! We were so worried, wh'yd you run off like that..?" Donnie asked as each of the boys hugged Karai before Splinter helped Karai with her jacket and scarf as the little one sighed contently, savoring the warmth.

"I...I'm sowwy daddy and anis, I didn't mean to wowwy you...I'm a little and I slipped fwom being cold...I'm 4..." Karai held up 4 fingers shyly.

Leo awed. "Hey, that's okay..." He knelt down by his baby sister. "So...you're age regressed right now?" Donnie asked as Karai nodded. "Littlespace is a coping of for me...for stuff that I went through with Shwedder..." She whispered.

Splinter immediately held her protectively at that, not wanting to imagine the trauma his only daughter had endured. Karai happily cuddled up to him. She was cuddled close by her brothers as well.

April and Casey both explained a bit more about Karai's littlespace and how they found out. "We wanted to tell you sooner, but we wanted to respect karai's wishes, she wasn't ready to tell you until now." April told them.

"Aw, sis...we accept you..." Mikey hugged Karai close. "Yeah, this helps ya and makes you feel safe and happy, so it's okay..." Raph added. "We'll always love you, imoto..." Leo kissed her head. "We promise..." Donnie added with a smile.

Splinter nuzzled Karai softly. "You are very loved, my little akachan..." Karai smiled with happy teary eyes and hugged her family close. They churred, holding the little one close. April and Casey watched and awed.

"So, this is where you go to regress?" Leo asked as Karai nodded. "Yep!" Splinter shook his head. "Not anymore...you no longer have to keep your little side hidden." Karai grinned. "Otay daddy!"

The family thanked April and Casey for helping them find Karai and for helping her with littlespace, and headed back to the lair. Karai knew things were going to be very different from now on.

In a good way.
