"It is sad not to love, but it is much sadder not to be able to love." - Miguel de Unamuno

it had been two weeks since he had met jisung at his attempt spot. the moon was shining so brightly that awful yet perfect night. since then, everything has seemed a bit dim. it was especially hard for lee minho. feeling things is hard, don't get me wrong, but not being able to know what you're feeling is harder. what had he felt that momentous night? he didn't know. he hated himself for that. he never knew. why could he never fucking know.
he hasn't left his house since he met han, and his friends became worried. he did this when he thought to himself. it made them feel horrible knowing they couldn't help because they didn't know how he was feeling. sometimes they had to make their best guesses. sometimes those guesses were wrong, but it was worth a try. at around 1pm, his best friend, hyunjin, called him asking to go get a cup of coffee with him. he was an art major at a college nearby, they were friends since childhood and have been friends ever since. hyunjin made it hard to decline, so eventually lee know had found himself up and out of bed getting ready to go to their usual meeting spot. he tried to cover his scars and bruises from the previous day with makeup, but it was still somewhat visible. hopefully he wouldn't notice.
he didn't have the money to afford a car, so he walked there. it was about a fifteen minute walk before he arrived. hyunjin had already gotten there and ordered them both their usuals. an iced americano and a matcha tea with honey and sugar.
"minho, over here," hyunjin said waving the black haired boy over.
lee know took his seat across from hyunjin and took a sip of his tea. he didn't know what to say. he didn't want to say anything. he didn't want to bring up jisung. it made his head hurt and his eyes swell. he didn't want to bring up those high school wimps. he didn't want to bring up how he tried to kill himself again. he didn't want to be here.
"minho, i know you better than i know myself. what happened. this isn't healthy. you can't keep doing this to yourself, please tell me. i want to make it okay, i want you to live an easy and non-complicated life, but for that to happen, you have to tell me things. i am here for you."
he didn't know why, but his eyes started to sting again. the same sting he felt looking down over the rail on the mountain.
"hyunjin, do you like the sun?"
"what?"
"it shines at night so the moon can show how beautiful it is. it shines so the moon can help everyone else."
"lee know, i don't understand? since when did you know all this dumb astronomy stuff?"
"it isn't dumb, hyunjin. i met someone a few weeks ago. his name was han jisung. i don't want to go into detail, but we met under a difficult scenario. he said i have a purpose, just like the moon, even though people may not think so. i told him he was my sun. he was the one who made me be able to shine. he is the sun to my moon."
"it sounds to me like you really love this guy. have you talked to him?"
love wasn't something lee know had ever thought of, he had never felt it before. he had never understood it. it was just something that was there. is this what love was?"
"no, we haven't talked since. to be honest, since that night there hasn't been a day i haven't thought of him. it was just a coincidence that we met that night, nothing more."
"min, this is something you call fate. it sounds like you guys were meant to meet. he was there when you needed him most, as you said, he's your sun. you're his moon. go find him again. go make a solar eclipse."
"what."
"i don't know.. that sounded right, but looking back upon it sounds kinda..but whatever. what i am trying to say is just as much as the moon needs the sun, the sun needs you. go find him. this time shine on him. you never know when somebody needs a little sunlight in there life, minho."
"but what do i do when i don't know what to feel? i just..i- i don't know."
"lee minho. min. minnie. you are one of the smartest people i know. no matter what happens, i'm positive that this is the best choice for you. he needs you just as much as you needed him. follow that light."
lee know got up and nodded. he threw $7 bucks on the table for his tea and ran out of the cafe's doors. he was going to find jisung. it was like the gravitational pull was dragging him towards his sun.
hyunjin just stared at his friend as he ran out of the doors. he smiled a bit because he knew he had helped him this time. he was happy for him. but his face grew slightly annoyed because he didn't mean to go now. 'that dumbass'
