Emma's POV
"Miss Swan, would you be kind enough to go over to the library and put these books on my shelf?" Mrs. Ruiz asked me. I smiled. "Sure," I said. I took the pile of books and did my best to balance them. I walked over to the library, which was at the other side of the school.
I walked on the football field and someone bumped on me so hard we both fell on the ground, and the books flew in all directions. "Hey!" I yelled. "Sorry, love," I heard an Irish accent. I adjusted my glasses and looked at who hit me. He was on top of me.
"Excuse me?" I said. "What," he asked. "How dare you bump me, make my books fall, and then call me 'love'?" I asked. "It's something I say," he replied calmly. He stood up and reached his hand out. I took it then stood up.
"Here, let me help you," he said. I picked up all of my books and I took them. "Thanks," I said. "I'm Killian Jones," he said. "I'm Emma Swan," I said. "Killian!" I heard a voice. A girl came running over with long black hair in a ponytail, with red lipstick, and a scar on her top lip.
She looked at me and she raised her eyebrows. "Killian, who's this?" She said, pointing at me. "Calm down babe, I just met her right now," "He said. I looked down at my shoes. "Well I should be leaving," I said. I ran over to the library and put the books on the right shelves.
I just talked to the most popular people/couple in the whole school. Regina Mills and Killian Jones. Regina reminds me of a movie called Mean Girls, because she is definitely mean. She even has her own tiny group. It's Regina Mills , Katherine, and Mary Margaret.
I rent a two bedroom apartment. I am an orphan, well, technically I have a foster parent. Her name is Darcy. She is hardly a parent to me, or someone I care about. She doesn't even work or pay bills. I am the one to work from 3:30 to 11:00 at a market to pay for bills and food.
I leave the library and head to my apartment in my yellow bug. Sometimes people make fun of it but I have special memories with it, and I love it. Once I head home, I see the lights on. I groan. Darcy's home.
I get out of the car and the door is unlocked. I open it and hear loud yelling and laughing coming from the kitchen. I walk over to see Darcy and her 4 boyfriends sitting at the table smoking.
"Get us some more beer," I hear Darcy tell me. I walk over to the kitchen and get the beers for them. Then I head into my room. It's smaller than Darcy's, but it's okay. I look into my money box to count how much I have. I suddenly gasp.
My money! All of it is gone! I run back into the kitchen. "Darcy, where is my money?!" I yelled. She looked at me and said, "I used it for the casino." My mouth dropped open. "You know I was saving that money up for my birthday!" I said.
"Well, too bad! My house, my rules!" She says. "I don't see you paying any f*cking bills! Or cleaning the f*cking house. So excuse me, this is MY house," I said . Suddenly one of the men got up quickly from the table and shoved me up against the kitchen counter.
"Don't disrespect your guardian like that, okay!" He yelled at me, his revolting breath making me light headed. "She means nothing to me," I say simply. I then grab one of the knives and put it against his throat. "Don't ever touch me again. Or I'll rip your throat out with my teeth," I yell at him.
Soon enough they all leave, pretty darn scared. Darcy stands up from the table. "Clean this place up, I'm going out," she said. As soon as she closes the door, my knees go weak and I collapse on the floor, crying. I hate her so much. But tonight I will end this misery and pain.
