(ik the cover for this chapter is tsutako, but pretend it's shinobu shehesjwks & sorry for the late upload.)

mitsuri's flower garden was decorated with giant ribbons and pink, red, and white heart-shaped balloons carefully placed here and there. it was finally the matrimonious day in which tomioka giyuu and kocho shinobu would unlock a new episode of their soon-to-be-joined lives.

a hedge arch swarmed with white roses and purple wisteria stood at the far side of the isle. the wedding guests were finally finished filing in to either side of the arch. they were sat on comfortable, cushioned wooden benches, and chattering about.

suddenly, the crowd hushed, as the orchestral band started strumming strings, waving bows, pressing keys, blowing into mouthpieces, playing the wedding tune that happened to be both soft, and powerful.

ubuyashiki amane walked down the isle, a great, elegant smile on her delicate face. she was to walk down the isle as the closest to a mother-figure shinobu had, as she reached the end of the isle, she took her seat.

next, giyuu walked through the lane. he wore a black suit, and dress shoes. despite his face monotonous expression, beneath the facade, many emotions whizzed through him. excitement, nervousness, and even sorrow.

he placed himself in front of the arch, mentally preparing himself for all that was about to happen.

minutes passed, as the best man, the groomsmen, bridesmaids, maid of honour paraded down the isle and took their places.

at last, kanao came through, throwing intricate petals down the lane, tanjiro by her side, holding the ring on a plump pillow.

then, everyone held their breaths, giyuu's heart beating in figure-eights.

kocho shinobu, wearing a glamorous, white dress that was laced with flowers and ribbons walked through the door. her corset beheld patterns of butterflies, roses, wisteria, and leaves. the dress's train trailed behind her five paces, dragging along the garden path. a veil was pulled over her face, hiding her details.

she strolled down the isle gracefully, finally taking her last step across from giyuu.

"do you tomioka giyuu, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to live together in matrimony, to love her, comfort her, honour and keep her, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, to have and to hold, from this day forward, as long as you both shall live?" ubuyashiki asked softly.

a few long seconds passed, before giyuu burst into tears. he was getting married. to the woman he loved.

who are you kidding, giyuu? what the hell are you doing?

shinobu let out a laugh. "now, now, tomioka-san, what's gotten into you?"

"i-i do." the water hashira managed, trying to wipe away his tears, but they just kept flooding out.

quiet laughs came from the crowd.

"do you kocho shinobu, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, to live together in matrimony, to love him, comfort him, honour and keep him, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, to have and to hold, from this day forward, as long as you both shall live?"

"i do." shinobu said, patting giyuu on his back with one hand, while covering her stretched lips with the other.

"a ring is an unbroken circle, with ends that have been joined together, and it represents your union. it is a symbol of infinity, and of your infinite love. when you look at these rings on your hands, be reminded of this moment, your commitment, and the love you now feel for each other." master said, as the rings were given to the couple.

"tomioka, please place this ring on kocho's finger and repeat after me: kocho shinobu, i give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the promise to love you today, tomorrow, always, and forever."

tomioka did as he was told, more tears streaming down his face.

"now, kocho, please place this ring on tomioka's finger and repeat after me: tomioka giyuu, i give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the promise to love you today, tomorrow, always, and forever."

"tomioka-san, i give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge: to love you today, tomorrow, always, and forever."

giyuu felt the cool ring slide onto his finger.

"by the authority vested in me by the demon slayer corps, i now pronounce you husband and wife!" announced the master, smiling with both his mouth, and his eyes.

"you may now kiss the bride."

shinobu's veil was lifted off her face, and suddenly, she felt the soft lips of giyuu's against hers. it was all that mattered in the moment, nothing else. at last, they were joined.

and of course, the cheerful audience clapped and applauded for the newly-weds.
