Felix's POV

I look up to see Brooklyn walking in from her adjourning room. She looks like an angel dropped straight from heaven. She's wearing a silky pink dress that almost shows more skin than it covers. She's carrying a beautiful ivory half mask with pink feathers up the right side, gold filigree and pink highlight the rest . Her beautiful blonde hair curls down her back. With the 5 inch heels she has wrapped around her feet, she fits just perfect into the hug I give her. "Wow, Brooklyn, you look amazing! No one will be able to take their eyes off you. Oh, and before I forget, your father sent this over." I turn to the large white box that was just delivered. "What in the world?" she explains as she lifts the lid. She turns to me, holding up a set of beautiful pink and gold angel wings. I begin to laugh. "Well, your Dad isn't going for subtle anyway." I continue to chuckle as I help her into the thin, barely there gold straps holding the wings in place. "Instead of a ghost, you're an angel on loan from heaven." She gives me a look, but in all honesty, she looks amazing and sexy as hell! The wings somehow just seem to highlight the cutouts in the dress. She hands me the black velvet half mask off the dresser. I'm dressed all in black. The tuxedo and black dress shirt and tie the perfect foil for her pink and gold heavenly beauty. "Brooklyn, there is no way in hell he won't know it's you if he sees you. Are you ready for this?" She walks over to the bar and pores herself a shot of tequila. "Well, I guess there's my answer." She holds one finger up and pores one for me and another for herself. She hands me mine as she says, "Here's to love and second chances and to the best friend I've ever had!" We down the shots and head downstairs to the waiting car and driver. I take her hand as we step into the elevator. She's shaking. "Brooklyn, you don’t have to do this. I know what our dad's expect, but this is alot. Even without Matt." She raises up to plant a quick kiss on my cheek, "I've got this, Felix. Don't worry. We'll play it by ear and, of course, leave if we need to. She takes a tissue out of her silk evening bag and wipes the pink lip prints off my cheek. "There, now you make a beautiful dark demon escorting his angel to the ball.

Mattew's POV

I can't believe that Brooklyn is somewhere in this room. I scan the room but see no one that could be her. My parents approach me, dressed up as Morticia and Gomez Addams. "Mom, you look amazing!" I tell her as she leans in to give me a quick kiss. "And you are?" My father asks me. I flash my fangs as I grab my black silk mask from my inside jacket pocket and slip it on. "A Vampire, why am I not surprised?" My father says. "Just be careful of whose neck you decide to su.." he's cut off as my mom playfully smacks his arm and drags him off. I glance around the room again when I notice a bit of a disturbance. Every male head in the room turns to towards the doors where a literal pink and gold angel enters the room on the arm of a man dressed all in black with dark hair and every fiber of my being knows it's her. The soft pink silk dress she is wearing clings to her curves, while the well placed cutouts give glimpses of her smooth skin. Her hair hangs in gold curls to her waist, highlighting a pair of beautiful pink and gold wings. Brooklyn is alive and more beautiful than I imagined. I know I promised Mr. Pruit I wouldn't approach her or do anything to upset her, but every piece of my broken heart is screaming for me to go and take her into my arms. I look over and realize that must be Felix with her. Part of me wants to punch him right in his smiling face, but it's not the time or the place. I head to the bar. I definitely need a drink.

Brooklyn's POV

I feel all the eyes on me. I knew to expect it wearing this dress, but better staring at my body than my face. We're here to make the right people nervous, but not to let anyone guess the truth. Felix leans down and asks me if I'd like a glass of wine. He finds a small table in the corner and pulls out my chair. I still feel several pairs of eyes on me as Felix leaves to get us a drink from the bar. I hear the man approach me from behind. "Excuse me, but do we know each other?" I instantly recognize him as one of the men loyal to Patricia. I answer in the British accent I've acquired since living in London. "I'm sure we've never met since this is my first time in the States." I place my hand on my purse so I can feel the Derringer hidden inside just as Felix returns to the table. "Here's your wine, babe." He raises his eyes to the man standing next to me, "Luciano, is there a reason you're speaking to my wife?" The man pales. "I thought we were acquainted. My apologies, Felix. Say hello to your father for me." Felix nods his head, and the man walks away. "Well done, Babe!" Felix smirks at me, "It didn't take you long." I remove my hand from my bag, winking at Felix as I say, "Besides, I'm sure it was the dress."  I notice Felix stiffen and turn my head to look in the direction he's staring, and I see him. Even from here, I know it's him. He's staring directly at me but takes no steps to move in our direction. Felix places a hand on my shoulder and leans down to ask if I'm alright, never breaking eye contact with Matt. I'm fine, I tell him. He lets his hand slide slowly down my arm to grasp my fingers and pulls me to my feet. "Let's dance." I feel Matt's eyes on me as we walk out into the center of the room, although his aren't the only ones following us around the dance floor. I definitely think our fathers will be happy at the attention we're getting. I can hear the whispers going around the room, wondering who I am. I notice Mr and Mrs. Caldwell standing next to Mason, and omg, is that Justin? Everything in me wishes I could go and throw my arms around them. I feel my eyes filling with tears. "Felix, I need a moment. I'm just going to freshen up a bit, and I'll be right back." He gives me a concerned look. "He's still staring. Are you sure you'll be ok?" I blink back the tears, raising my gaze to Felix as I make up my mind. "I want to speak to Matt. Can you help me?"

Felix's POV

I look down and see the tears she's trying to hold back and know that she needs this. "Wait here." Is all I say as I turn and stalk straight towards Matthew Caldwell. He stiffens as I approach, and I see him clinch his fist, and I chuckle, knowing part of him wants to take a swing at me. I deliberately ran my hand down Brooklyn's arm while he was watching. Let him wonder just how close we really are. I'm still not sold on the fact he deserves my girl, but I know she wants him, and I  do want her to be happy. "Hello Matt, it's been a long time." He looks me up and down while I smirk. I can see him clinching his jaw. I give a little laugh, "Or maybe not long enough? Anyway, my wife would like to speak with you, and as it is my happiness to grant her every wish, here I am asking if you will speak with her," I can't keep the smirk off my face as I see it takes every thing he has not to punch my smirk right off my face. "Shall I have her meet you outside in the garden?" I notice him glance over at Brooklyn. "She'll freeze outside in that dress. Tell her if she wants to speak to me, she can meet me upstairs in my room in 10 minutes." It's my turn to want to wipe the smirk from his face as he turns as he's walking away, "She knows where it is."

Brooklyn's POV

I'm having doubts as I head upstairs to Matt's room. I have to admit I was a little surprised he wanted to meet in his room, although part of me is hoping it's a sign he's willing to listen to my side of the story. Except for my marriage in name only, I've kept all my promises to him, and under the circumstances, I hope he can get past why I married Felix. After all, it has kept our son safe these ten years. I find myself in front of his door, afraid to knock. I take a deep breath, and the door is flung open. I raise my eyes full of tears and remove my mask as he whispers, "Brooklyn, it's really you." He reaches a hand to my cheek as the first tear falls. "Don't cry, baby, please don't cry." And the next thing I know, I'm in his arms, and I feel like home. "Matt I'm so sorry! You have no idea how sorry I am!"

Mattew's POV

I can't believe it! Brooklyn is alive, and here in my arms. How can I hold any anger at what's in the past when she's here now and I have this second chance? "Shhh baby, it's ok. Everything is going to be ok"
