Back at the Summers' household ,Kate was upstairs in her room showing him some of her origami she had laying on her desk.In 4 small groups she had a section of animals that was divided into two for woodland zoo animal.,another with bright beautiful flowers Mathew and the last set were on the far right corner. Intrigued by all her fascinating creations, the boy begged Kate to teach him how to do it.Shocked and happy Kate said yes and had him follow her to her art closet. Opening the door he was greeted by all kinds of art supplies from paint pallets to clay. Finding her container colorful origami paper, Kate let Mathew choose the color he wanted.Scanning through his options like a hawk, the boy saw a myriad of different colors.Just as he was about to grab a blue piece of paper, he noticed a strange box in the far right corner of the closet. Painted in black letters were the words "Karyoke Machine".,Surprised at the sight Mathew asked her if she could sing and pointed to the box.Then as if she was embarrassed, Kate told Mathew that it a gift she got for her mothers birthday.The boy almost believed her until he inched closer to it and noticed that it had been opened.Realizing she had been caught Kate said it was hers and she used to play until 3 years ago.Feeling sadness start to build up inside her,the girl decided to change the subject and told Mathew to grab some pieces of paper. To start their lesson Kate began telling him how important it was that he make all his folds even.The first creation they made were some butterflies.It took several tries,but after going through his 7th piece of paper, he finally made a very good butterfly. As the worked on each origami piece the two shared happy conversations and laughed.Kate told Mathew about how fun Kelloggsville use to be and Mathew told her about some of the awesome adventures him and his sister Lauren went on.As time went by Mathew was being a pro at making origami,he made butterflies, different kinds of pets and swans. Thinking back to the Karaoke Machine,Mathew asked Kate what happened 3 years ago and why she didn't sing anymore. Taking a deep breath, she proceeded to tell him about the talent show three years ago. She told him how she was in the middle of singing when she suddenly started choking up,and the audience froze for a second before bursting into uncontrollable laughter.Starting to cry a little bit she told him that ever since that day she never picked up a mic again.Feeling really sorry for her Mathew offered her a big hug and told her that he bet she had a really beautiful voice. Hearing these sweet words made her tears of sorrow transform into tears of appreciation.
A few minutes later Kate's mom came up to their room and told them that they all had to go to a town meeting at the square, and the two of them were positive they knew what it was about. The Queen must have heard about Mathew's little brave stunt and now the townspeople had to face the impending consequence.When they arrived, they were met by the whole community who all had the same anxious and depressed look painted on their face.Waiting for the Queen to come Mathew's face was baking in the hot sun. Looking over at Kate he could see that her face was more red than usual and had turned into an ice-cream cone as she was dripping sweat profusely. Finally after what had seemed like hours, a tall girl with black hair and a long black dress came strolling in wearing her traditional moody face.Looking out into the crowd she then started to give a devilish smile as she prepared to talk. Queen Olivia began by addressing yesterday's shocking action and then proceeded to tell them that they would have to work on making a park for her puppy and would have to make it to her standards. After this everybody groaned and then left to go home to get ready. Seeing this, Mathew felt horrible for what he had done. The car ride home was filled with overbearing silence.Arriving up at the park, Mathew, Kate, and her mom ,joined the rest of the community in the building process. As they worked endlessly in the blazing hot sun, the group did their best to stay motivated to finish their task. Luckily they had brought water with them to keep hydrated.Every now and then they would take a break and get a quick drink.At the conclusion of 8 hours they were finally done and had to wait for the Queen to come by to approve it.Following that they could finally go home.It was 2 am.
