I lost everything for family, do I regret it? No. Will I ever? No.
It might be sad at times, but from the shadow I was cast into, I can help the one I love, the one I lost.
I hear a knock on my door.
"Why do you interrupt me my son?"
"They're here."
"You can bring them here." A short time later, my son opens the door and they enter.
"It's you, isn't it?"
"I really can't hide anything from you." I smile. "Come here."
"I can't believe it took me this long."
I laugh.
"How is she?"
"Safe."
"Good. If they get her there's nothing I can do. I don't have that much control. Nikolai has been suspicious of me for a while but the boys' council has kept him in check."
"I will protect her with my life. I know how much she means to you."
"I promised to protect her. I failed once and I can't fail again."
