as soon as ionia had stepped into her family's mauri pod, she was yelled at. criticised about her role model skills towards ao'nung and his friends. she should have stopped him instead of joining in with the fight. which was reasonable. she could have just yelled at and pulled them away, but she had actually fought.

neteyam had tried to take the blame for lo'ak, but his father refused to hear him out. however after he had sent lo'ak away to clean himself up, jake had a go at neteyam, asking where he was to stop lo'ak, or why he didn't stop lo'ak.

after neteyam had cleaned himself up, he decided he better go check up on ionia, to see if she'd managed to clean herself up and if she was feeling calmer. as neteyam knew she was angry with the way she acted towards him.

he walked through the village, earning judging looks from the group of boys that followed ao'nung and got beat up; but neteyam ignored them. he'd also seen feyiri on the way, who'd been asking about where ionia was, but he lied and said she wasn't feeling the best, but she'd visit her later.

as he inched closer to the mauri pod, he could hear the olo'eyktan and the tsahìk yelling at their daughter. he could also make out ao'nung and tsireya standing off to the side. neteyam hid himself, standing near the door, but hidden so he could listen in.

"how could you be so irresponsible?" ronal seethed. neteyam could hear her pacing back in front of her daughter, who looked at the ground ashamedly.

"you are meant to be the next leader, ionia! yet you can't even control your brother!" tonowari added, backing his wife up.

ionia looked up, her own father had basically just said she wouldn't be able to look after her own people, all because she couldn't take care of her fifteen-year-old brother.

"but- why is he my responsibility? he is fifteen! i have bigger responsibilities than ao'nung!" she argued back, gesturing to the boy, who also looked down at his feet.

one thing he always felt bad about was how ionia always got the blame. no matter who did something stupid, whether it was himself or tsireya, ionia took the blame and received the punishment.

"no! do not speak back to me!" tonowari yelled.

neteyam frowned at how she was being treated. she didn't even do anything wrong, she was sticking up for his siblings, which he appreciated a lot, but didn't appreciate this part of it.

"you have disappointed me, daughter. ao'nung is your responsibility, as is tsireya. you look out for them! you take care of them! teach them how to behave!" ronal said lowly.

one thing ionia hated hearing was her mother telling her, she was disappointed. with ronal believing her daughter was the gift of eywa, it hurt even more when ionia let her down.

her mother wanted a perfect golden child that she could show off. which she sometimes did indeed have. but whenever ionia did something stupid, things would always end up like this.

"you have been lacking recently. your duty and work around the clan has deteriorated," tonowari told her, "you are extremely distracted."

ionia knew that slightly. she had become a bit carefree in the past weeks, ever since the sully's had appeared and she grew closer to neteyam specifically.

she'd messed around during their training, would sneak out frequently to go see the boy. or she just had been more distracted with looking after feyiri, which was her number one priority. the girl had no one but ionia, and she wasn't going to stop taking care of her.
