The small cottage smelled of incense and sweat as the Seer danced. Ominous whispers traveled in the air and tickled the Prince's ears. He held his wife closer him and rubbed her swollen belly. He prayed to the Gods that she bore a daughter.
The Seer gasped from exhaustion. The Princess leaned forward. "Tell us, please, what do you see?"
"A girl. Beautiful, strong, a complement to your Highnesses."
They both sighed sighed in relief and smiled. The Seer chuckled and then smirked.
"What is it? What else is there?" the Prince said cautiously.
"She will die young."
"That can't be! No!" the Princess cried.
"No. Wait. She lives but her gift is uncommon in one so young."
"What?" the Prince asked. "What it is?"
"She will have an ability. To see past and future. A war is coming. The Imperial family will be torn apart."

They left the Seer and traveled to Azul Palace, the primary residence of the Imperial family. The Empress received them in her private apartments. She dismissed her staff and poured them tea.
"What did the Seer say?" she asked.
"It will be a girl," the Prince replied.
"Good." She took in the worried looks on their faces. "Brother. What is it?"
He cleared his throat before speaking. "The Seer said that she will die but come alive again. She will have an ability to see the past and future when she awakens."
The Empress raised an eyebrow but shrugged. "Our fate is decided by the Gods. Things will work out."
"But the Imperial family will possibly be torn apart," the Prince whispered.
Her eyes narrowed. "That will never happen. Now." She turned to her sister-in-law. "You must rest. We all wil discuss this later."
The Princess stood and curtsied. "Your Grace. My Lord." The sound of her dress swishing across the marble floor was all that was heard for several minutes.
"Brother. What else did the Seer say? What must we know?"
The Empress held her brother's gaze. He sighed.
"She will be attacked by those closest to her."
"Hmm. Then she will be under my protection from the time of her birth until I die. Everything will be provided for her. Nothing but the best tutors, dresses, and a whole host of others things. She shall want for nothing. Trust me little brother." An excited look took hold of her eyes and she smiled brightly.
The Prince nodded. "I trust you, sister."
