Jenna was sweating. She imagined different scenarios in her head. What if you say yes to a date? What is she gonna do next? Where should she take you? She wants your first date to be perfect. She wants all of your dates to be perfect. But maybe there's not gonna be a second date. Maybe there's not gonna be a first date either. What if you see her, turn around a leave her in the library. No, you would never do that, you weren't that type. But she treated you like shit for almost four years, it would be totally understandable if you wouldn't want to do anything with her. She would be heartbroken but she would understand.
'You have to stop overthinking. Everything's gonna be fine' she whispered to herself and got her favorite Edgar Allan Poe selection off the bookshelf.
She sat down in the corner, pulling both her legs up, using them as a book holder. She tried to distract herself and her thoughts from you. She was just afraid of your reaction. She didn't want to lose you and the possibility of that made her anxious.
After your last period, you made your way to the school's library. It was just a little cozy place with only a few people there but you loved it. You visited a lot when you had the time. You wondered if you had seen Greta Joanne here before.
You didn't know what's going to happen but you were excited. Maybe it was the beginning of something beautiful. You greeted the librarian and made your way to the 'American literature' aisle. There's no way she could be somewhere else. She couldn't stop talking about how much she loves Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe, Sylvia Plath and Charles Bukowski. She has to be there.
'I never thought I would see you here, Jenna' you furrowed your eyebrows when you saw the brunette sitting on the floor, reading a poetry book. 'Can I sit with you for a minute? I'm waiting for someone, she should be here soon' you asked politely.
'Y/N... you're waiting for me' Jenna looked at her shoes, too scared to face you in that moment.
She started overthinking again. You didn't even consider the fact that she could be Greta Joanne, why would you want to be with her?! You were expecting someone else and it broke her heart.
'What do you mean I'm waiting for you? Is that a lame pick up line or something?' you chuckled a little but you were more confused than ever. She can't be... can she?
'You are waiting for me. I left you the note on the napkin. I'm Greta Joanne. I used my name's anagram.' she whispered, still not comfortable enough to look at you.
'Oh my God' you whispered when you realized that Greta Joanne is just the anagram of Jenna Ortega. 'I never knew you were this smart. I never knew you were smart, to be fair' you giggled and sat down on the floor, next to the brunette.
She just shrugged.
'Well, now that you know the truth, I assume that was it' she played with her fingers. 'It was nice getting to know you, Y/N.'
'Wait, you want it to be over?' you asked surprised.
'I'm sure that I wasn't the girl you were expecting here today. I'm sorry if I wasted your time' she apologized and was about to get up when you caught her hand by her wrist.
'You definitely wasn't the girl I expected but I don't care, Jenna. I fell in love with you, your personality, your thoughts, the way you see things, the way of your thinking. I fell in love with the fact that you care about me, you never once forgot to ask me how my day was, how I was feeling. You never let a single morning go without your sweet 'good morning' messages, you made sure to text me 'good night' every single evening. You probably know me better than I know myself at this point' you watched as an adorable smile tugged at her lips. 'Plus, I'm extremely happy that with the most perfect personality comes the most perfect physical appearance' you smirked.
Jenna playfully rolled her eyes at you and sat back on the ground.
"We loved with a love that was more than love, I guess' she smiled at you, intertwining your hands together.
'With a love that the winged seraphs of Heaven coveted her and me' you finished the poem and caressed Jenna's left cheek.
'I love you' she whispered, looking at you, this time with confidence in her eyes.
'I love you' you smiled and gazed down at her lips.
Luckily, both of you had the same idea. She leaned in, connecting your lips is a sweet kiss, gently resting her hands on your waist. It wasn't a long kiss, you were in the library after all, but it was a passionate, meaningful one.
'So what do you say we have our first date now?' Jenna asked, brushing your hair behind your ear after pulling away from the kiss.
'Can I choose the place?'
'Of course!' she grinned.
'I wanna go to the diner and I want you to try peppermint milkshake. It's full of sugar, full of calories but you're gonna love it' you laughed.
'You and your peppermint milkshake' she sighed. 'Okay, only for you. But if I don't like it, it's gotta be on the house' she winked.
'Deal!' you smiled widely at her and you made your way out of school, hand in hand for the first time.
You didn't know what the future holds for the two of you but one thing was for sure, you were beyond excited to see it. Jenna was never someone you saw yourself in a relationship with but you were judging the book by its cover. Jenna was the most amazing girl you've ever known and you couldn't wait to get to know her better, to love her and be loved by her every single day for the rest of your lives.
