"Mahito, what's a boyfriend?" you ask, looking up briefly from the book in your hands.

You'd picked '10 Things That Completely Waste Your Time: the Ultimate Guide to Usurping for Dummies' from Uncle Suguru's private library. You weren't technically allowed in there, but he was rarely around anyway and he couldn't possibly notice a single book missing.

Mahito turned around from where he was, leaving the disfigured organisms he was practising his cursed technique on behind him, to make eye contact with you.

"Hm." He pauses to put an index finger to him chin comically as he thought. "Not sure, but if it's in that book, it's probably a waste of time".

"Oh- right, yeah. Looks like there's a girl version too".

"Wait, like 'girl-friend'?" a look of recognition passes across his features, "Ah, I think Geto had one of those!"

Your eyes widen as you look at your brother, excitement plaguing both of you. A giddy feeling rises in your chest and you get up to face him. Uncle Suguru, who looked deathly serious 99% of the time, having a girlfriend? You didn't exactly know what it was, but you assumed having a girlfriend must have caused him great grief.

"That explains his eternally sour mood!" you exclaim, the facts drawing together in your mind like the spindle of a spider's web.

"No wonder his plans fail most of the time, I mean he can't even follow what that book says! Remember that time he got the address of that café he was supposed to meet Jogo at wrong? It must've been because of his girlfriend." Mahito smugly replied.

He felt so intelligent for figuring out such a big secret that belonged to the emotionless brick that was Geto.

You wave your hands eagerly, as if uncovering the biggest revelation of the century. "What if-"

"What's this talk of me I hear?" Suddenly, Geto stands behind your brother, his hands nonchalantly tucked into the pockets of his gray pants. One of his eyebrows are raised in expectancy, but before either of you cross-stitch siblings could reply, he spots the book you were reading, it's cover plainly exposed face up.

Your eyes follow his gaze but it's too late to get rid of it.

So you do the next logical thing and blurt out a, "Mahito! I told you not to take another of Uncle Suguru's books again. Especially not one of his personal ones." You roll your eyes for extra measure.

Its not perfect, but your excuse convinces Geto.

"Wha- I, but-" Mahito fails to get a coherent sentence out as he sputters in disbelief at your obvious lie.

Before he can plead his case, Geto swiftly grabs the book and with two fingers, pulls him by the ear and drags him away, a giggle escaping you as you hear him scolding him even at the end of the corridor.

You're alone now, and with nothing else to do you turn to inspect the disfigured creatures spluttering about where Mahito had previously left them. There were two in total. A navy blue blob with 3 hands and a multiple eyes shuffled back and forth. Beside it, a red lump with an abnormally large mouth coughed and wheezed.

With a finger, you touched both cursed creatures gently but firmly and channelled your cursed energy to transform them into a death-like state. You had enough seeing them suffer.

Like your brother, you also harboured the cursed technique of Idle Transfiguration, with slight differences between your abilities. Mahito was older than you only by a few hours though he appeared to be in his mid-20s, while you looked roughly 16. Neither of you knew exactly why this was, but it didn't matter.

In fact, it was an advantage that you looked as young as you were. It would greatly help your family in their plot against some funny-named man, Gojo. Tomorrow you were set to attended Jujutsu Tech in Tokyo, but you were more excited than nervous. The sewer atmosphere clogged your pores and you loved the few times you were allowed to go out.

It was another of Uncle Geto's plans that you were supposed to train and learn Jujutsu as a first-year at Jujutsu Tech, blending in with others while gathering information as an insider. It seemed easy enough, and before long, Uncle Geto wouldn't have to go out as much anymore. You'd be back bickering with your brother and learning from Hanami and Uncle Jogo. The sooner you complete this mission the sooner you could come back home.

You couldn't wait at all.
