Tommy sat on his couch drinking his morning coffee. He had to go to training today so he would have to find someone to babysit Shroud. He sighed as he watched his son play on the floor, he had to be careful about who let watch him. Tommy had an ongoing threat lingering over him, being on a master assassin's hit list was not easy, especially when he had to grow up on that. He often did not know what to do. He was guided by his friend Wilbur Soot, an assassin who was very high-ranking, one of the best in the company. Sure the company had others, including the one who was chasing after him. Tommy knew he needed to be careful considering the fact he had a price over his head.
Tommy looked at Shroud and just thought. He felt bad for not being there for him as much as he wanted to be. He was constantly trying to force himself to train, and help Wilbur. Tommy had to make a name for himself, to protect himself and his son. He wondered if he could get his friends to watch him but he wasn't sure if those two were going to training today. He bit his tongue and thought. Maybe Phil could take him for the day. Phil was a retired assassin who helped Wilbur when he was younger. Maybe that could work. He usually let Shroud over so that was good. Tommy trusted Phil enough as well.
Tommy made the call to Wilbur asking him if he could ask Phil to watch Shroud to which he said yes. So now that Shroud was taken care of he needed to make sure he was ready for his own training. The company was rough, if you weren't good enough you were cut or stepped over. It could be hours of brutal training that someone had to go through. Tommy wasn't really looking forward to it but he had to do it. He needed to learn to protect himself. He had to learn to be a good assassin. That's all that mattered.
After Tommy got Shroud packed for the day at Phil's house and he got himself ready for training he heard the doorbell ring. He knew it would be Wilbur there to pick the two up. Tommy was wearing his usual red hoodie with black accents, and his red converse. It was almost his brand, as Wilbur teased him about it. Always mentioning that Tommy's assassin name would have to have the word red in it. He went up to the door and opened it sending a smile to Wilbur.
"Hey, Wilbur! Thanks for coming to pick us up," he said happily. He enjoyed seeing Wilbur before training, he always did appreciate his presence. Seeing Wilbur was like a good constant reminder that he had to be great. He had to be as good as Wilbur one day, which he was determined to do.
"Anytime kid, it's almost funny you are old enough to be an assassin and a father and you can't drive yourself anywhere," Wilbur joked with the other.
The younger boy playfully elbowed Wilbur in a response to which Wilbur flicked Tommy's forehead. Shroud watched laughing at the two before Wilbur brought the two into the car and dropped Shroud off. When Wilbur went to the assassin training building he walked in with Tommy, really only to embarrass the other.
The training was hard and grueling for everyone involved. During the training, Tommy thought he was going to just stop breathing during it. He needed to get through it though or he wouldn't be able to become a great assassin. He needed to motivate himself to get through. Which he was able to do. He pushed himself through the stealth training, He snuck around the mock version of a break-in where he had so sneaked into someone's house. He carefully turned the corner of a house holding an airsoft gun in his hand tightly, opening the door, and quickly sneaking inside. He crept through the house and went to the safety dummy that was laid in the bed, he shot it with the airsoft gun. He was passed and quickly went to the next activity, then the next, and the next. Eventually was able to finish the training but by the end of it, he was tired and overworked.
He left the building ready for it to be done. He wanted to walk home considering it was nice a night and it would be a good walk home, just him and Shroud. That would be nice, just bonding time with Shroud. He could show Shroud the city's beauty at night considering he liked staying in the safety of his house more often than walking at night which is something Tommy had to adjust to. He didn't mind though, he'd do anything for his son. So he went to Phil's house and thanked him for watching Shroud.
"Papa!!" Shroud smiled as he ran up and hugged Tommy.
"Hey Shroud!" he greeted the other and bent down to return the hug. He loved seeing the huge smile on his son's face as he picked him up after training. It made Tommy happy knowing he could make Shroud happy, it made him feel like a good dad. "Did you have a good time with Phil?" he asked.
"Mhm! We had fun though he didn't want to run around with me," he pouted.
"That's because Phil is an old man! If he tries to run around with you he'll break his back!" he joked, causing Shroud to let out a small laugh.
The walk home was peaceful until Tommy heard a crack behind him. He quickly turned and saw him. The masked man the one who always seemed to follow him.
