"Aha!" You exclaimed, with your arm extended to your messy bag, you pulled it out when you finally recognised the item you touched. "Here you are, little wormies."
You placed a container filled with worms on a nearby rock while Kunikuzushi watched, with a blank face. "ew.", He mumbled.
You gasped at his reaction, taking the container of worms into your hands with an offended expression, "How dare you! Do you have any idea how much that hurt them?"
"no." He replied, causing another dramatic gasp out of you.
"You—! worms have feelings too! you monster! apologize now!" You yelled at him, pointing an accusing finger at him while he stood, unfazed.
"sorry." He bluntly said, while you sighed. "..if worms do have feelings why are we using them as bait for fish?"
You remained silent, giving him the side eye, "Because that's their job." You said.
"but i thought—" "Okay! let's just get this over with." You cut him before he would say anything else that would give you difficulties replying with.
It was a free day for you, your mother went somewhere that you weren't entirely sure where since you were too busy finishing that bowl of shrimp balls to even listen, but she was out of town, that's for sure.
It took a lot of convincing from your brother for him to allow you to go out fishing with a wanted person but after a few hours, he finally said yes.
You cleared your throat, "Alright um— Kuni, do you have everything ready?" You asked him, "Well, you didn't really bring anything nor were you assigned to do so.. eh, you're good." You patted his shoulder and dug your hand into your bag.
"Hmm.. let's see... bait... check. fishing rods.. check. bucket.. check. snacks.. check. water.. check. Sun screen so we don't get burnt.. check." You kept digging through your bag, removing different materials and items while Kunikuzushi stared into the deep forest.
The wind made the tall trees sway, the air had a different tone to it today. Kunikuzushi stared back at you who kept digging things from your bag, and while you weren't looking he went into the forest.
"Alright—! that seems to be it, we are ready for— Kuni?" Realization caught up to you when you turned around. There wasn't anyone there and you groaned. "I turned around for one minute!"
You went into the forest, looking for your friend while the wind had its unknown feel to it. A shiver went down your spine as you stepped forward.
"Kuni... I don't know what kind of prank you're trying to do but I don't like it.." You whispered, trying to get ahold of your friend while also trying not to wake up the unknown beasts hidden in the dark forest.
Then a zap of electro coming from deeper in the forest caused the ground to shake. You lost your composure, slightly falling over from the sudden shake but then quickly gained back your balance and stood up. You quickly ran, following the electro particles to where it came from.
You saw Kunikuzushi, standing straight while looking at his palm. Right when you were about to call out to him, another voice interrupted you. "Deliver the news. I'll try to distract him!" You heard the voices of a few men accompanied by groans and cries.
You hid behind a bush, peaking your eyes to see the scene. Kunikuzushi was there, surrounded by multiple soldiers as a few fled to what you heard, 'deliver the news' to who you assumed as the shogun.
The next happenings came as a blur– the last think you remembered was seeing those few men attack your friend and then in a blink of an eye electro energy erupted, bursting those men as their whole body popped from the sensation, blood splattering everywhere around the forest.
