Seven days have passed. Nagito has been taking you to the cafe every second day now and you are amazed that his luck allows him to continue getting him a spot there. In fact, the place seems dead when the two of you are around, with people having to cancel their reservations for many reasons while other people simply just don't end up going there for some reason. The Ultimate Barista seems suspicious of the two of you since his patrons seem to only vanish when you are there, though he doesn't kick you out or anything. He makes the odd joke about it and often gives you wary stares while the two of you are trying to eat and drink in peace. You don't blame him, though it is distracting to feel his gaze on you whenever you're trying to wind down with your bestie. Whenever his other employees are there, they all seem to whisper about the two of you and give you nervous looks as well, only they look more scared than anything. They stare at you like you're a pair of witches who have put a curse on them. You've made a mental note to ask Nagito if it's possible to take your food to go. You're sure the barista and his fellow workers will thank you for it.
Now, you are lying down in your bed, getting ready to sleep. Your phone is on your nightstand. You hear it buzz, which usually means Nagito is replying to your goodnight text. Just in case, you grab it and check.
Goodnight! As always, text me first when you wake up. Wouldn't want to bother you! :)
Yep, he was replying to your goodnight text.
Satisfied, you put your phone back on the nightstand and get yourself settled under the covers. You pull the blanket up to your chin and smile. Ever since Nagito entered your life, things have been more interesting for you. Even when his insane luck cycle gets you into a bind, you've always ended up being okay and have actually enjoyed that sense of adventure in your otherwise boring life. Despite your shyness, you were able to wrangle in a loyal, amazing friend at last. You feel like he's more than you deserve, which is ironic since he feels like you're more than he deserves. Even though the two of you grow closer with each passing day, you know that he is secretive about some things for whatever reason. Maybe even unintentionally so. He's full of mysteries.
You're not much better yourself. You're too shy to speak your mind a lot of the time. In fact, you want to tell him how grateful you are to him for being your friend but you're too nervous to do so. You've had bad experiences with people in your life in the past and you wonder if that's the cause for your hesitation when it comes to being open.
Closing your eyes, you smile to yourself as you think about Nagito. Perhaps this is the cause of your dream.
You are sitting on a bench, feeling lonely. Rain is pattering down on the concrete of the empty street stretched out in front of you. Although you are in the middle of a city and in an area with towering buildings, there are no cars or people there. You are utterly, truly alone at this moment.
For some reason, you're not afraid of the fact there are no people there. Despite being in some sort of apocalyptic setting, you feel sad and lonely rather than scared. Nobody's there. You need a friend at your side.
That's when a voice suddenly calls out to you.
"Hey!"
Turning around, you see the pale, smiling face of Nagito Komaeda. Even though he's standing there in the middle of pouring rain with no umbrella, he appears to be dry. His white hair is soft and fluffy with seemingly no raindrops in it.
"Hey." You return his greeting without a thought.
He makes his way over to you and sits down beside you. As he does so, the rain seems to stop pouring on you as well.
Then he speaks. "You know, (y/n), my luck isn't all bad. It made me find you. Even though it can be a bitch to you, it can do good things to you too."
You blink. You've never heard him call anything "a bitch." It isn't like him to use such language. Certainly not in such a casual way, either!
"Maybe my luck can do more." He's looking at you with wild intensity in your eyes. You flinch. You hadn't seen him turn his head to give you such a cutting stare. It's freaking you out.
"W-what...?" You can't bring yourself to say more. You are stunned and bewildered.
"Maybe my luck can do more." He reaches one hand and sets it on your lap. "Maybe it can make both of us feel things we've never felt before. For each other."
"Huh?" Your heart is beginning to race. A mixture of fretful emotions is boiling in your chest, overwhelming you. You feel like an electronic that has been overcharged.
Then, you wake up.
You lie in your bed and try to process your dream. It's still nighttime, so you're lying in pitch darkness.
You think about Nagito. The way his head turned to you in the dream, his eyes sharp and intense as he put his hand on your lap. The words that came out of his mouth were certainly something else!
Although you're baffled and giggle a bit when you recall him saying the words "a bitch," you're quickly distracted by the other things he said. The things about his luck having the power to make the two of you feel things for each other.
You put your hand on your chest. As you do so, you can feel your heart doing little nervous movements beneath your skin. An odd, fuzzy yet passionate feeling is somewhere in your chest. With a jolt, you realize that you are already feeling things for him.
You are beginning to develop a crush on Nagito Komaeda.
