The Mysterious Mark

The elevator doors came to a creaking close. Mark's heavenly scent filled up the elevator. The whole ride down I was in a trance. Is this a dream?  I looked up at Mark who was on twitter, laughing at the tweets of other YouTubers and I have to admit, I was really jealous they were following him back. I mean of course they were, I was standing next to Markiplier after all, but I still couldn't help feeling that childish envy. Mark caught me looking at his screen and quickly put his phone away.

"So y/n," Mark said as the elevator doors opened, "what YouTubers do you watch?"

The question left me stunned. I didn't want to lie to him, but I didn't want to seem like a crazy fan. Mark loves his fans, but would he want to be with one?

"Uhm," I said in a raspy voice. My throat suddenly felt dry.

"Hey aren't you the girl I helped get settled yesterday," a turned to see the person who had warned me about my "crazy neighbor."

"Yes I am!"

The woman tugged on my arm before bringing me a little too close for comfort. Her eyes were filled with concern.

"That's the one I was telling you about, " she whispered, "are you going somewhere with him? So you need me to call the police?"

"Uhm," I said while I thought of a lie, "no Miss of course not! It's just a coincidence," I said while waving at Mark to keep walking.

"Oh good! Have fun wherever you're going!"

I let out a sigh of relief as I opened the doors of the apartment complex. Mark was waiting outside laughing uncontrollably.

"Do they really think I'm crazy," Mark asked between fits of laughter,"I really didn't think I yelled that loudly before the soundproofing! "

The warm L.A. breeze tickled my face while I walked towards Mark's car in awe. The sunset here looked like something out of a painting.

"Hur hur yes, only the most manly of gentlemanly men open the door for a fair maiden," Mark said in a fancy tone, rubbing an imaginary mustache between two fingers in the process. He was so adorable!

I couldn't help but watch Mark's every move. He was just so...perfect! His muscles were accentuated through his tight flannel. Dreamy was an understatement.

"So," Mark said as we pulled out of the parking lot, "want to do a collab tomorrow? Well, as long as you remember to wake up."

"Hey I'm jet lagged! But yes tomorrow I will have everything set up."

"Oh don't worry about setting up your system. I think we should do one of those vloggy type of  challenges, you know like the whisper challenge or something like that, " Mark thought before bursting out, "I've got it!"

"What do you have in mind?"

"THE POLE DANCING CHALLENGE! "

"Are you being serious," I said while being unable to control my giggling.

"No, yes, maybe," Mark smiled at me for a second before continuing,  "I have done a pole dancing video before and it turned out to be very popular."

I had already seen the video more times than I could remember. While he wasn't particularly good at it, his effort was solid. That was one of my favorite non-gaming videos.

"I think we should do something a little more-"

"Kid friendly? I do have two pole dancing videos up already. "

"Right! So how about-"

"The No Laugh Challenge," Mark continued after my puzzled expression, "we both have water in our mouths and we have to try not to laugh while listening to different inappropriate sound clips. I'm the king of inappropriate, so it should be good!"

"Well I'm in! What happens if we lose?"

Mark smirked at the question, but didn't look at me. I didn't want to question it, so I looked out of the window. What was that smirk about?

We sat at a cozy table for two at the restaurant. It was an Italian restaurant, a candle at each table set the atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised by Mark's chivalry, opening every door along the way for me. My old boyfriend had never done that. I suddenly remembered the night I left, the night he left me. He told me there was nothing in YouTube. I quietly slushed the ice in my glass of water in a somber trance.

"This is one of my favorites, " Mark said while pointing to the baked ziti, "hey what's wrong?"

"Nothing," I said while forcing a smile, "I'll have that too."

The waiter came and took our orders. There was an awkward silence before Mark spoke up.

"Hey are you sure you're ok? We don't have to do this if you aren't feeling well. I want you to be happy."

I didn't want to end this, but I didn't want to worry Mark either. I'm sure he already had enough on his mind.

"I'm just a little sad. I don't want to bother you. It's fine don't worry about it."

I fiddled with napkin before looking up to his now sorrowful eyes. This was all my fault.

"Well you look beautiful, " Mark said with a smile begging for me to cheer up. Mark was better than my ex in every aspect and I realized it was time to let go.

"You look handsome too," I said in a heated blush. I probably looked like a lovesick puppy, but there was just something about him that any girl could instantly fall in love with.

The food was delicious and Mark had me cracking up the whole time. There would be brief moments where we would both just stop and smile at eachother.

"You got something on your uh," Mark said while pointing at my mouth. Is this where we kiss!? The kis in me was internally screaming and running around their imaginary playground.

"Well you could get it for me," I said surprising myself. Where did that come from?!

"Well if you insist," Mark said with a devilish smirk.

We both leaned in and my eyes automatically fluttered close in the process. I felt something touch my lips, but it wasn't the mouth of another. It was too dry.

I opened my eyes to see Mark dabbing my mouth with a napkin. I just stared at him in bewilderment. The little kid in me had tripped on a log and landed face first into a brick wall.

Mark noticed and came close to my ear and whispered, "I think we should head home."

Mark paid for the food and we left the restaurant. I got a little cold on the walk to the car, but Mark placed his flannel on top of my shoulders without even asking, exposing a tight v-neck undershirt.

Once we got in the car I once again could not help but to stare at him. Suddenly, a familiar song came on.

"Open the door," Mark sang rather excitedly.

"Get on the floor!"

"Everybody do the dinosaur!"

We both danced in our seats like we had known eachother forever. It felt like I was in the car with a best friend.

I entered the complex much earlier than Mark, learning my lesson from earlier. I waited for Mark in front of my door.

"I had a great time," I said with a smile so big I couldn't control it.

"So did I!"

There was an awkward moment of silence before I turned to open the door to my apartment. I felt Marks warm hands turn me around. He carefully slid his flannel off of me, sliding his hands down my comparably small frame very slowly. It sent chills down my spine. His eyes looking at me with desire. He then gave me a kiss on the cheek that melted my entire being.

"See you for the collab tomorrow," Mark said while slinging his flannel over his shoulder. I stood there in complete shock.

As I fiddled for my keys a door opened across from mine. It was an elderly woman.

"You guys look in love."
