Jean's pov
It's been almost an entire year since the last titan attack or since one has been spotted, and things were once again peaceful at least for some people. Many people were still grieving for the fallen, I am one of them; few people went insane from the past events and had to be moved to a mental facility. It was night and everything was quiet, I hated these night; these were the hardest nights. Unable to sleep I walked down the hall and snuck outside. The cool wind hit my face and sent a chill through my body. The wind blew hitting the leaves that had fallen making them rustle slightly. I could make out the figure of a leaf gently gliding torwards me, unconsciously I put out my hand to the falling leaf as it fluttered in the palm of my hand. My eyes widened and warm liquid threatened to spill out of them. The leaf was torn in half. As I inhaled sharply the memory of a dead body lying down torn in half clouded my vision. "M-marco.. I'm s-so sorry.. I failed you" I cried as tears flowed down my face and hit the leaf with a soft sound. "This world was not ment for a beautiful person like you" I whispered. I opened my hand up wide and the wind swept up the leaf and carried it away. I lifted one of my hands and kissed it gently, it was the hand that touched Marco's ashes the one that I always kissed before battle. I looked at the leaves that were on the ground and scattered below the tree. The ones that had fallen were broken and on the ground for countless people to step on while very few still clung to the tree's branches. It was just like my comrades, the ones that had fallen and the ones who were still here with me, clinging to life. I stood up straighter and saluted the fallen leaves "thank you" I said bowing my head respectively. I felt more tears slide down my face as I stood in the moonlight alone.
