"are you serious? there's no other way?" i question my lawyer who's sat in front of me at the library.

"i've tried to help as well but the most i could do is meet up with you here so your husband doesn't track you down to my office" my lawyer explains calmly.

a sigh escapes my lips.

"thank you, really. so i just have to gather as much evidence as possible and bring it to you?" i ask for the last time.

"yes, anything that could lead to the things he's done to you. as long as it makes sense and goes along with your story" he tells me.

"alright... thank you, taemin" i'm grateful that he's understanding about my situation.

he gets up and gives me a shoulder pat before he takes his leave.

my eyes avert to the book hiding underneath some paperwork.

i look for the little paper tucked behind one of the last pages and smile to myself.

i wonder who this could be.

'college life isn't so bad... you should try it if you ever get a chance :)' is what the little paper reads.

i've been writing back and forth with this anonymous person. it all started with me finding this book and the little note that this stranger had written. the 'what if' is what got us this far.

i had asked myself 'what if i respond to the note, place it back in the book and put the book back where i found it?'

and to my surprise, the stranger responded and we kept it going. i'd say today is our third week mark.

i did look through the names to see who had checked out this book but there were too many recent ones and i knew none of those people, so i gave up on that.

suddenly, my phone rings and i'm shaken out of my trance.

it's my husband.

i look at the time and curse at myself.

when did it get so late?

he's definitely mad.

i answer the phone, holding it slightly away from my ear.

"where- where are you? do you know what time it is?" he sounds furious.

"i lost track of time, i'm sorry. i was waiting for the rain to go away since i don't have an-"

"i don't care, get back here now!" he yells through the phone and hangs up on me.

i don't want to go back to that place. that place isn't my home, and it never will be.

my parents made me marry that douchebag. i tried to tell them what he was actually like but they only care about the money. i'm only a profit to them. his parents had agreed with my parents that i had to be his real life partner, so therefore we have to live together.

i can see why they wanted that. no one probably wants him with that attitude of his. i just got unlucky.

great, it's raining even harder now. i'm gonna have to make a run for it...

that was until i took one step into the rain and didn't feel anything.

in confusion, i look back and see a guy holding out an umbrella for me.

"you look like you're in a hurry... here, take it" he motions for me to take the umbrella.

i do so reluctantly.
