That Was Fun

A/N: I cannot be stopped. Blue Lock has taken over my life. I'm obsessed.

They'd been at this for hours, and now the sun was going down. The shadow of the academy was creeping its way across the field, and soon, the overheard lights were going to turn on and blare their light, banishing the darkness the night had to offer. Nagi wasn't interested in seeing it happen. He'd been waiting for this training session to finish since five minutes after it had begun.

Reo was oblivious. To all of it. He could have happily stayed out here until midnight without even bothering to notice that it was late, or that he was sore or tired.

"That was pretty good," he finally called, still admiring the ghost of Nagi's goal in the shake of the net, the ball coming to a still after it was done rolling. "Should we go one more?"

When he didn't get an answer, he turned around, only to find Nagi had sprawled right out on the artificial grass of the field, his head rested in his arms, eyes closed. Reo let out a breath and retrieved the ball. He was as quick to scold Nagi for his during practice phone usage as Nagi was at being able to pull the damn thing out of his pocket and start a game between goals. If he was lying there, eyes closed, this went beyond slacking off.

He was done.

Reo kept his sigh to himself, letting the familiar mourning of a session ending wash over him. He liked being with Nagi; he wished it could be like that all the time. He didn't know what it meant or what it said about him, that when he piggy backed him to his family's car, that the car would just take them both home, and he could continue to exist at his side through the evenings, the nights, the mornings, until they had to return to the world once again. Every minute they spent together never felt enough to him.

He shook it off. The ending always came, but then again, so did the next day, the next time, the next chance to see him. Reo walked back over to Nagi, who didn't open his eyes, even as he was standing right over him.

"Alright, you win," Reo said, teasing him lightly. "We're done. You can stop fake sleeping now."

Nagi opened one eye, only slightly. He did look tired, Reo thought to himself. And so cute.

"You gonna get up, or what?" Reo asked him.

Nagi didn't answer. He just pulled his arms out from under his head, rolled onto his back, and reached his arms up. Reo gave him a look of fake annoyance. He took a minute to retie his topknot before reaching down and hauling Nagi off the grass.

Despite the training, it was always easier said than done. He could do it, and would, every time, but it's not like the white haired slacker did him any favours. He figured if anything came out of this friendship with Nagi, Reo would be really good at hauling around a corpse, should the need arise.

"Mmm," Nagi sleep mumbled in approval, like he always did with Reo managed to maneuver him into the right position.

"You'd save us both the time and effort if you'd just climb on yourself," Reo mumbled, still fake annoyed. It barely came across that way, and even so, Nagi was too tired to notice.

"I'm helping you get stronger," Nagi mumbled, somewhat muffled from where his mouth was pressed into Reo's shoulder. It came through clear though, from how close his mouth was to Reo's ear.

Reo let out an exasperated breath that doubled as a laugh. He'd had yet to admit he had fun during these training sessions, but Reo liked when Nagi made the effort to throw his words back at him, to tease him with them. It made him feel like he paid attention to what he said, and cared enough to poke fun at him. Like it wasn't too much of a pain, and in that, he translated it into thinking that Nagi didn't consider him a pain.
