The Story of My Life

     Well, Hi. My name is Lucy,I am twelve years old and my mother passed last year. For the past year my dad has just been staring into outer space. Like he's in some kind of trance or something. It shocked him just like he was hit like a car. It was so sudden. There was no warning. My dad just hasn't quite been the same since my mom died. My mom died in a massive shooting. She was at our local college, where she works, and a student pulled out a gun and shot seven people. My mother was one of the seven.  Five of the seven people survived, but sadly my mother wasn't one of them. I will never forget when my father answered the call of the paramedic telling us what had happened and how my mother had died on the scene.

     "At least she didn't suffer too long." said the paramedic. Like that was comforting. Why would that help? Who would ever say that? Apparently the paramedic who watched my mother die. Some nights I lie awake in my bed and hear the words of that call running through my mind...just taunting me. I felt like my world was shattered. Now I'm just trying to find all of the pieces. I'm still looking for some of them. "God will help you" they say. Why didn't he help me already? Why can't he help me in my desperate times? I shouldn't have to ask for help if he sees everything that goes on in my life. "It's just part of life." "Ask and he will help you." I am getting tired of hearing those words! I pray for help everyday! He hasn't helped! So why should I  believe that he will? People come and people go I guess. My mom was only thirty two years old when she was shot. Her birthday is tomorrow. God will provide I guess. Why can't he provide right now? Why am I still waiting? My mom would have been thirty three tomorrow. I am going to celebrate tomorrow. I'm not going to tell dad or it will really upset him. It's getting really late so I better go to sleep. I'll see you tomorrow.
