Young broodwings are born out of cocoons that start out as a little egg that grows until its probably about the length of your arm. Then the surface of the cocoon becomes light and soft and easy to cut through. That's when the parents step in to slice open the cocoon with their spikes on their legs and elbows. Then the dragonet is raised by their parents and taught how to use its abilities and is taught about the different jobs it might get as well as life as a broodwing.
