MIRA

I am standing in my office with my fellow business partner, my oldest friend. I give her a look to which she says, "There's is no other option, Mira. We have to do this, we both know how important this deal is."

"I know, but, there has to be another way, and have you forgotten what happened last time Palak? Do you think after all that we should trust him?" I said controlling my anger, trying very hard not to yell because we both want to keep this very confidential for right now. I sat on my desk with my head buried in my palms. Those words were still ringing in my mind when Mr Kapoor said that I would have to work with that cheater, backstabber, and whatnot.

Flashback: 6 months ago

I see all the news headlines filled with only one news which is about me and Malik. I keep scrolling down through all the different articles about both of us. Soon Palak enters my office with a smirk plastered across her face. "So, you got what you wanted?!?!" she says still smirking and I give her a look that clearly said that if she doesn't shut her mouth she'll be in trouble.

"Look I have told you repeatedly and I am saying it again. I don't have any feelings for that guy. It's all related to business. We both know that our companies are rivals. It's better if we keep ourselves protected from our rival companies. I don't want any trouble okay?" I put a particular emphasis on 'okay' because we both were troublemakers since our childhood. We still are but it gets difficult sometimes to keep Palak in a serious mood. She's always joking around until the situation gets out of my control and then she comes to rescue me. I play safe and she takes all the risks, it's like we are opposites but still very similar, just like wings. She has the wings of a northern goshawk but I on the other hand have the wings of an eagle.

"So, what's your plan now are you gonna steal something, like maybe..., his-" I immediately interrupted her. "Palak!" I say widening my eyes. This is our thing we both just enjoy teasing each other but right now wasn't the correct time. I was about to rebuke her but there was a sudden noise coming from outside. We both go outside and are met with a scene of two men squabbling with each other. One of them is Raj, who also happens to be our finance manager. And the other man is dressed in a formal suit with a tie, around the late twenties or early thirties, height similar to Raj just a few inches tall, along with some papers in his hand.

"What happened?" I ask them raising my voice loud enough to make them stop their little dispute. "He was eavesdropping on your conversation mam," Raj said. My eyes widened and Palak gasped in shock. Palak is a karate black belt, so as soon as she heard those words escape Raj's mouth she jumped onto that man. She grabbed his wrist with her hand and her other hand and made its way towards the back of his neck and pinned him towards the nearest wall, making his face crash into the wall. He was now at her mercy. I know how to fight too, just that I don't do that very often, Palak on the other hand is just insane, although I know how to fire a gun, she doesn't.

"Who sent you here?" she said questioning him. No answer. I made an attempt to calm her down saying, "Palak, let him explain himself." she sighed and let him go.

"Malik sir asked me to deliver these documents to you and tell you that some documents will be delivered at night too." my eyes shot up hearing those words.

I took those documents from his hands and said "Tell your boss that there is no need to send any document to this office after 3 p.m. I hope you have understood that?" I asked him making myself extremely clear, because even if we have shaken our hands for each other's cooperation, having a scandal with him would be the last thing I want. He gave me a nod and Palak asked Raj to see him out. I turned my attention to Palak. "You shouldn't have done that Palak. You don't have to act all impulsive around me, also we aren't in Italy. We are in India. No one will harm us." I said reassuring her. She stares at me blankly and says "Look Mira, I know you're capable of protecting yourself but, if something happens to you, even by mistake, I won't be able to forgive myself, we both-" I cut her off by placing a finger on her mouth.
