3rd person

the fulton girl stood outside, leaning against a gray minivan, watching two of the sturniolo boys play football, or their version of it with only two people.

while the middle triplet stood next to her.

"come on, chris! you can beat him!" matt yelled.

"don't listen to him nick! you can do this!" hazel screamed.

the oldest triplet threw the ball as hard as he could. the football flew past chris, meaning he won.

hazel screamed running towards nick, who engulfed her in a hug. it had caught the blonde girl off-guard, she wasn't used to this from people she just met but she went along with it.

nick pulled away and they both yelled in victory.

chris slammed the ball on the ground, making it launch towards the two victors.

hazel quickly dodged out of the way, falling into nick. he steadied her before yelling at the youngest triplet.

"what the fuck? chris!"

"i'm so sorry! hazel, are you ok?" chris laughed, trying to compose himself and be serious.

"yeah, i'm fine." she laughed, looking over at matt who was relieved.

if you had asked matthew why he invited hazel, he would've been unsure and shrugged, giving a lame excuse of "i just felt like it." but that wasn't the reason at all.

he had just met this girl last night, yet he felt something towards her.

he thought about what happened and what could've happened.

he barely got any sleep last night thinking about it.

she was drunk, blackout drunk when she approached him. if she had approached anyone else, who knows what could have happened.

it wasn't safe for her to get drunk and go up to strangers asking for a ride home.

he couldn't help but feel grateful that she had come up to him.

anyone else and something bad could have happened. really bad.

matt had never met someone who cared so little about being sober.

he invited her tonight because he cared about her.

he cared about her safety.

because tonight she was with him and his brothers. she wasn't at a party.

she was sober.

after the small football game, four young adults climbed back into the car.

matt drove home and dropped his brothers off.

hazel climbed into the front seat after saying goodbye to nick and chris.

"you remember my address?" hazel asked the blue eyed boy in the front seat.

he nodded and repeated it back to her.

"well done, matty." she smiled.

he blushed at her nickname and began driving after putting her address in the gps.

"oh my god! matt, we never finished our twenty questions game."

"your right! where were we?" he asked as the blonde shrugged.

she pulled out her phone and scrolled through their texts.

hazel went through and counted the questions. they continued the game where they left off and kept playing until they lost count of how many questions had been asked.

laughing about their favorite things and complaining about the things they hated.

before they knew it, matt had pulled up at her house.

"alright, this is me." she smiled.

"thank you, matt. i had a really fun time tonight."

"of course. text me whenever you want to do it again. i nick and chris really like you." he winked.

she tipped her head back and laughed.

"can i walk you to your door?" he asked.

"it's right there." she stated, pointing towards the front door which was only about ten feet away.

"so?"

she shrugged and got out of the car. he followed her to the door.

"how much of a walk was that?" she smirked.

"it was pretty short." he shrugged.

she laughed and thank him again.

"no problem." he smiled, pulling the fulton girl into a hug.

she paused before hugged him back.

when the two pulled away, they smiled at each other before she walked inside.

matthew stood there, still smiling with a sudden new realization.

hazel closed the door and leaned against it, still smiling with a sudden new realization.

matthew was beginning to catch feeling for hazel.

hazel, while hanging out with matt and his brothers, was sober the entire time.

she had no desire to smoke or drink while she was with them and no desire to smoke or drink now.
