"WOOOOOOO! Let's go, baby!" You look up from your spot at the kitchen island. Turning your head over your shoulder, you see two grown men jumping up and down in front of the TV. Of course, the only thing that would get them so excited was today's football game. You shake your head at your husband Rudy and his long-time, best friend Alejandro.
The two have known each other for years and were practically brothers. Serving together for nearly 20 years created an unbreakable bond between them. Even off duty, they would be hanging out and creating a loud scene like the one in your home. But it was adorable. You shook your head at the men hugging each other in excitement and sighed seeing the spilled snacks from their jumping. Turning back to your computer on the island, you go back to writing an email to your boss.
Their cheers and laughter made you smile. It was always nice seeing them enjoy themselves from their dangerous, demanding job. You were glad that Rudy had someone to look out for him. You met Alejandro around the same time you met Rudy. It was about six years ago that you were walking to the convenience store/bodega late at night. It wasn't that far a walk, so you thought it would be fine. When you got there is when you spotted Rudy. In the snack section, his eyebrows furrowed at the decision of Lays or Ruffles. You walk past him to see his basket on the ground filled with a case of beer as well.
When you looked back up, you caught his eyes staring at you. You quickly looked forward and kept on walking to the pastries. Embarrassed at being caught, you kept your head down as you looked around. Rudy had taken notice and not so subtly made his way to you. After he tripped over his words a little, he finally got around to asking for your number. His nervousness was endearing. When you looked at him for the first time, there was something about his strong face that had a softness to it. It was his eyes. There was something about his sunken eyes that made you feel as if he was looking right through you. His gaze held you in a trance.
Other than being the most handsome man you've ever met, you gave your number to him, and both of you checked out. After saying your goodbyes and promises to text each other, you parted ways. To your luck, another man was walking in your direction. You held your ground as you walked past him, but it was exactly what you thought. He grabbed your arm attempting to drag you into an alleyway, but you fought back. You screamed and hollered for help, desperate for anything or anyone. When you were about to lose hope, the man was quickly ripped off of you and pushed to a brick wall. Your savior took the man down swiftly and knocked them out. When he turned around to ask you if you were okay, you recognized their voice immediately.
It was Rudy. You smiled and sighed in relief. You ran up to him and hugged him tightly, thanking him over and over again. You exclaimed that he was amazing, and he chuckled at your praise. He then revealed that he was in the Mexican army and was trained in that sort of stuff. He saved you that day and thus began your beautiful relationship. When he introduced you to all of his family, that's when you met Alejandro, and you two became close friends as well.
So, here you guys were. A typical Saturday was spent with you, your husband, and practically your husband's husband. You constantly joked about how the two should marry each other. But it is always a fun time with them.
You finalize your email before sending it to your boss. You hear Rudy say he'll be right back and walk toward the kitchen. He comes up behind you and kisses you on the temple. "How are you, mi querida?" he asked while going into the pantry to retrieve more snacks. "I'm alright, sounds like the game is going well." You said smiling. Rudy comes back out with a victorious grin, "My team never loses." he says.
