Christmas - Chapter 29

"Merry christmas beautiful girl," Jamie mumbles sleepily as he wakes me up on Christmas morning.

"Merry Christmas," I smile.

"Lets go down stairs and get to these presents," He chuckles, rolling out of bed and pulling a shirt on.

"Sounds like a plan,"

We're down the stairs in a matter of minutes and like children once again, "MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!" He squeals as we walk into the lounge room hand in hand. I rest against the arm of the couch as Jamie stands behind me.

"Thank you! Now we can start presents," Sam exclaims, walking over ot the tree, "Jess this is yours," He smiles, chucking me a parcel signed from Holly & Sam, "Jamie this is yours," He chuckles, pretending to almost through a big box towards him but actually stands up and hands it to him. Jamie hugs him with one arm and I pull him in for a hug too.

I unwrap my first present and it reveals a casual grey dress, a beautiful grey dress in fact, "I'm assuming Holly chose this,"

"Definitely," He smiles.

"Shame she had to leave," I mutter, "It's just you and me now Anne,"

The five of us laugh and a few snide comments pass while Jamie opens his gift. He pulls the final layer of paper off to reveal a new dock for his phone/iPod.

"Thanks man," he smiles, "Alright, my turn,"

He walks over to the tree and hands Sam two presents, one small box and one filled with clothes. He opens the clothes first obviously guessing what it was and then opens the small box to reveal a watch thats he's been wanting for a while now.

"Thats what you nearly walked in on the other day,"

"That's how you hid it so quickly," He smiles giving me a hug and giving his brother a 'man hug'.

"Okay mum, dad," Jamie smiles, handing them an envelope, "this is yours from Sam, Jess, Holly and I,"

Anne rips open the envelope and her eyes flick from one side of the page to the other as she reads the print telling her that they're going on a holiday to Paris for a week.

"Oh, you guys!" She smiles, her hand covering her mouth as she gets up to hug each of us, "That's so wonderful, thank you so much,"

"It was Jess' idea actually," Sam says, taking a drink out of the Orange Juice carton.

"Thank god for the girls around here now," She smiles, kissing me on the cheek. "Okay, I want to give you guys your presents now,"

She hands me a few parcels; a box, a rectangular shaped, soft one and another, bigger box.

"The smaller box is what your parents told me to get you," She says with a smile on her face, "there's a note in there from them too,"

I open that one first in anticipation only to find a box of condoms (and a note) and I think back to my dad's silly little comment he made before we left.

"Oh my gosh that's so embarrassing," I chuckle as I absentmindedly chuck them to Jamie and unfold the note.

To our beautiful girl,

We hope you have an amazing Christmas and that you're enjoying your time in England with Jamie. He's a wonderful boy and I can't wait to see both of your smiling faces back in Australia soon. Write back if you can as I seem to think that there's some extra meaning and extra love in a written letter.

Give our love to Jamie and say hello to your British family for us.

I laugh at the end note and realise that they're finally starting to see me as a grown up.

"They said: 'Say hello to your british family,' so, hello," I smile as Jamie hugs me from behind, "And they give you their love," I smile as I turn to face him and kiss him quickly.

"Okay, open the other two," Anne says, clapping her hands together.

I open the softer one first and find a beautifully black sequinned gown, "What?" I chuckle as I hold it up and realise its floor length, "It's so stunning,"

"We thought you might need something to wear to your first premiere, and you might want to hang it up so it doesn't crease,"

"Will do, when is that?" I ask Jamie,

"In about 3 months?" He smiles, and I jump up and hug him with all of my strength.

"Why didn't you tell me!?"

"Because I knew you were getting this for Christmas, and I didn't want you to go looking for a dress," He chuckles, resting his hands on my waist.

I step back and pick up the box off the couch and open it carefully to find some new make-up that I remember seeing a while ago.

"Thank you so much guys," I walk over to Jamie's parents an hug them both tightly.

I watch as Jamie and Sam opens their gifts from their parents and the smiles on their faces are brighter than I've seen in a while. Especially Jamie's when he opens the gift I gave him - a necklace that hangs down to around his ribs with a circular, silver pendant on it with a J engraved on each side.

"I love it so much Jess. Okay," Jamie walks over to the tree and picks up a flat, rectangular box and hands it to me, "Merry Christmas," He smiles.

I rip it open impatiently to find a jewellers box. I flip the box open to find a beautiful sapphire and diamond necklace. Looks like we both got necklaces for each other.

"Jamie," I sigh, looking up to him, "I was kidding when I said I wanted diamonds for Christmas," I chuckle at a loss for words.

"You said a diamond ring which I didn't get. This is a necklace,"

"Shut up," I smile from ear to ear as I pull him close to me once again, "This is the best Christmas ever," I whisper in his ear as he tightens his arms around me and presses his lips to my shoulder discreetly.
