The Redheads Strike Back

I waited.

Nothing had happened since I left. At around nine a.m. I went to the park Percy was captured. I read a Aztec mythology book for two hours before leaving and getting ice cream. I got the Percy's favorite blue flavor and ate in a corner, depressed from Percy's disappearance. Then I walked to the local library, returned the Aztec mythology book, and got a new book about Norse gods to try and find any information about Percy's kidnappers. I stomped back to the park, incredibly frustrated. I was about to take a shortcut through an empty backstreet when the red head cornered me. She pushed me into an alley, grabbing and tossing my book onto the floor. My bookmark slowly fluttered to the ground.

"Finally. Took you long enough." I said under my breath sarcastically. She didn't appear to hear me.

"Annabeth Chase, you're under arrest." She said. I shrugged, picked up my book and bookmark, and walked straight past her. She grabbed me rudely and pulled me back, clearly taken aback.

"Did you not hear me?" I shook my head, placing my bookmark back into my book. "Can you not talk?" I shook my head again. She glared at me angrily and grabbed her weapon, which looked like a metal stick.

"Tony, grab her." A man, Tony, in a giant suit grabbed me. I grabbed my sword, which was hidden by the mist, and stabbed the suit. It didn't work.

"I may not be a expert on being arrested, but I've read enough books to know this isn't normal. Now, if you don't mind, I would like to be let go." The big metal man didn't move, but the red head grabbed a pair of handcuffs. The metal man let me go and the red head quickly clipped the handcuffs on. At this point, I was pretty sure they weren't Percy's kidnappers. The two teenagers who took him were, well, teens. They also didn't use mortal technology or handcuffs. Jokes on the red head and the metal man, because I've been trained to fight in handcuffs. Quirks of the random classes Chiron made me take.

First, I kicked the red headed woman in the shins with my heal. She loosened her grin for a millisecond. I took the opportunity to jump upwards and step on the chain connecting the handcuffs. They broke easily, surprisingly. The red head pulled out her stick and the metal man was charging towards me, apparently having thrusters on his boots. I ducked out of the way of the metal man, pulled out my sword, and parried the red head's stick. Draken bone can hurt mortals, so I had that to be grateful for. The metal man pulled out a gun. I sighed, disarmed the redhead, kicked her in the stomach, and jumped up to grab the fire escape of the building behind me. I pulled myself up and swung over the safety railing. The first few shots missed me by a few inches. The red head pulled herself up as well, readying her stick. I ran up the stairs up three stories. The metal man couldn't shoot me without possibly hurting his friend with the angle I was standing at. The red head followed me, hurriedly running up the stairs as well. I kicked out a window and jumped into it, glass spraying on my head. I rolled on the floor of the apartment.

It was sparely decorated, with a sofa, coffee table, and small two person dining table. The red head entered through the window and threw a chair at me. I ducked and swung my sword at her. She sidestepped with her stick. We probably sword (and stick) fought for about three minutes before I disarmed her. She held up her hands and smiled, then looked over my shoulder. I turned around slowly, noticing the arrow about a foot from my face.

Oh schis-

"Nico, you've really moved up in the world. Look at this brilliant creepy mansion! Truly, your dream home." He sighed as I walked ahead of him into his house. It was sunset here, getting dark quickly. I have no idea what convinced them to let an incredibly dangerous rebellion member into a civilian's house, but I'm not complaining.

There were three guards trailing me. They probably weren't human, since they did have gray skin and pointy ears, but hey that might just be me going crazy. My mental stability is a valid concern.

As I walked, I noticed two other people in the kitchen. I remember the councillor's sentencing thing, how the woman with the long brown hair had said I was going to be living with Enzo De Luca as well as Tam and Linh Song. They appeared to be siblings, both with long black hair with sliver tips and blue eyes. Come to think of it, all the people here appeared to have blue eyes. Weird.

"Linh, Tam, this is Per- uh, Nemo. He'll be living with us for the foreseeable future." One of the not-humans took off the hand cuffs I honestly forgot were on my arms.

"Uh, they can speak human?" Nico facepalmed again. I thought it was a fair question, but whatever.

"Yeah, Tam and I learned the basics of English while in exile. When Enzo decided moving a Neverseen member into our house was a good idea, I learned the basic sentences. It's not that hard, you have an incredibly easy language." The one I assumed was Linh said.

"I'm sorry I didn't clear it with you before telling the councillors he could move in. Besides, he'll have a guard on him at all times." Nico apologized. Linh just rolled her eyes. The other one, Tam, hadn't said anything. He was just standing in the corner of the dark home. When I say dark, I mean everything in the house was black wood, black tile, black paint. The only splash of color was a giant mural of waves on one of the walls. Will would hate this place.

"So um, where's the bathroom?" I said, dancing slightly. He sighed, for like the millionth time, and pointed down the hallway at a door. When I got back, the three of them were arguing in the strange gibberish. Tam was rubbing his temples, Linh was worrying her lip, and Nico was twisting his ring. Whatever they were talking about, I had the strange feeling like it was about me. I don't know why, it definitely didn't just make sense due to the context and the fact while arguing they were also pointing to the bathroom door where I had just been. Perhaps they were arguing about who was going to do the laundry or clean the cat litter. I'll never know.

I causally stood next to Tam. He looked at me sideways, his sliver bangs falling over his blue eyes.

"Hi," I said. He looked away and continued talking to Linh. Nico showed me my room, down a dark, creepy hallway to another hallway with paintings of waves all over the walls which I appreciated. My room is more or less empty, with a simple bed with a soft mattress. There was a blue lamp and chair. Other than that, it was completely empty. One of the goblins sat on the chair while the other two sat in the hall. I was hoping Nico would go over the plans for my interrogation tomorrow, but that would be pretty dumb as there was a guard sitting right there, watching me sleep. This was gonna be an incredibly long trip.
