– ✧ –CHAPTER 6 ~ Facing One's Past
– ✧ –THE PLANET CITY OF CORUSCANT WAS THE CROWNED JEWEL OF THE REPUBLIC. It was the core of the galaxy and the central hub for politics; it was where decisions made changed the flow of the galaxy at large. It was the home of the Jedi Order, those shining figures of justice and — no, those fading lights struggling to find any sort of peace in a war-ravaged galaxy.
"Master."
Coruscant was home to over one trillion beings, and it was only one planet. Trillions more were scattered across the great galaxy they called home, working and living and playing and fighting and dying and surviving. Of all the trillions of people in the galaxy, there were only around ten thousand Jedi to serve them. Of all of those Jedi, with their long and glorious history, only twenty-one had ever left the Order. Thousands of years of history and only twenty-one had been lost.
"Hey, uh, Master?"
Twenty-one wasn't an inherently significant number when compared to several trillion. But neither were ten-thousand Jedi or two-thousand Republic senators. And yet, it was those in the smallest number that often had the most power.
Two Jedi in this lifetime had left the Order, one right after the other, their fates intertwined for years until they vanished into the stars...only to reappear in two very different ways. Count Dooku became the leader of the Separatist Alliance, and Gaea A'Merra...well, Obi-Wan Kenobi didn't know. He had only seen her in a dream, a grown woman who looked so vastly different than the bronze bust in the Jedi Archives that there was no way it was only a dream. And he had to wonder...where they connected?
"Coruscant to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Helloooo...?"
The Jedi Knight blinked the sun out of his eyes and glanced at his apprentice, who was staring at him as though Obi-Wan had personally offended him somehow. These days, my mere presence is enough sometimes, he thought, releasing a flare of annoyance into the Force.
