First off, this story came to me while watching The Proposal. As I am obsessed with student/teacher, I couldn't resist. If I get a well enough response for this chapter, I might continue. Happy reading. xx
__________________________________Emma licked her lips as she cleaned the tables at the on-campus café she was working at. She sighed as her tired eyes drooped.
It was too early for her to be awake let alone working. No one in their sane mind would take this shift but Emma had offered. Being as her classes didn't start until noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays and she, admittedly, needed the extra cash.
There was one thing Emma noticed about this shift. Her eyes followed her ears at the sound of the door tinkling open and the heels hitting the stone tiled floor.
Emma rounded back around so she stood behind the counter and she smiled at the person opposite her. "Good Morning, Ms. Mills. The usual?" Emma smiled at the brunette.
The older woman raised one unimpressed eyebrow but nodded her head. "This time please get the order correct, Miss Swan." The brunette, Regina, said in her usual sharp tone.
"Of course. It's not like I get the order wrong on purpose so you'll come back for the right one. That's absurd." Emma shrugged casually with a teasing smirk. This wasn't far from the truth but also because Regina always came in too early for Emma's still-caffeinated brain to remember right away. She started on the order and grabbed an apple muffin to place it in a brown paper bag for her.
Emma turned to put them on the counter and rung the order up. "I wouldn't be surprised if you did." Regina sighed and tested the order right then and there to make sure.
Emma gave her a lopsided smile. "Everything in order?" Emma joked and Regina rolled her pretty brown eyes. "Have a pleasant day, Ms. Mills." Emma grinned at the backside of the brunette. She had to admire the perfect curves of her body.
Emma was positively radiant. Regina remembered her name. (Emma didn't wear the name tag for work being as everyone already knew her here.)
She had taken one of her English courses two years ago. Regina had only called upon her once to tell her of the amazing job she did on an essay.
Emma and Regina had never crossed paths after that. Until Emma got this job, that is.
"You didn't say anything." Her friend, April, spoke suddenly.
"HOLY MOTHER OF--" Emma shrieked as she jumped. The blonde turned to face the smirking girl. "When did you get here?!" Emma asked while turning to wipe the counter up.
"I just got in in time to see you blow your chance to ask Ms. Mills. Surely she'll be on board with your brilliant plan." The brunette spoke while tying her long hair into a bun. Emma rolled her eyes at the amount of sarcasm used.
"Yeah, April, the setting was perfect. I should've asked her." Emma spoke.
"Y'should."
"No! I'll hold off. I have a lunch shift Wednesday. I'll ask her then."
"Your plan is stupid." April said bluntly and Emma had to drop the conversation to serve the morning rush.
April had been Emma's dorm mate for her first year. They decided to find an apartment together second year and have been living together since then.
The girl was very opinionated and never hesitated to critique Emma's choice of clothes or her work. Emma appreciated her. She was like a Californian Ruby minus the fishnet stockings.
Emma sighed as she thought about her situation. Yes, this was a stupid idea. Emma had known this from the start. She got too deep into the lie just to pull out with nothing to show for it. So Emma kept it going.
It wasn't until her mother called asking her if she was going to come for their annual Fairy Tale Festival with her girlfriend was she in trouble.
Emma had pretended that Regina Mills was her girlfriend. It had been a moment of pure panic. Her parents asked if she had a girlfriend; Emma said yes. Her parents asked what her name was; Emma's mind blurted out the first woman on her mind. Regina Mills.
Emma could have easily said April who was pointing at herself in a form of panic of her own at hearing the conversation Emma had put on speaker. Emma didn't though, because Emma was incompetent.
Now, Emma Swan has to ask if Regina Mills would be her fake girlfriend for a total of 4 days. This was going to be quite an interesting week.

First chapter! Let me know what you think and I'll see what I can do about writing more. It was more or less just an idea.
