Telling a story that happened in a series of long roleplaying sessions, some longer than four hours long, is always a hard task. The details among all the players are not entirely clear and there's small discrepancies between their memories and the game master's.
So, let me start with a first small warning for them. It's my story, and I'm allowing myself certain poetical licenses and small changes to try to make everything look better in retrospective. Yes, it's literally a retcon. This said, I'll try and be as faithful to the story we've all created and to the characters that, I hope, you've loved as much as I've enjoyed them from the very beginning.
For those that don't know what is all this about, hi, I'm Athelian, and my favourite hobby is to make up imaginary stories in worlds that never existed. That's why I always enjoyed role playing games. This story happens in a world I've created for my players, the continent of Eviris. A land of elves, dwarves, orcs and humans. A land of monsters and knights. A land of bards and gladiators. A land, also, of dungeons and dragons. Because, not going to lie, I've played many different roleplaying games, and this specific one was created with that system.
Having that story becoming a readable story means that, obviously, those that know the rules of that game will notice I'm ignoring many rules, and I don't plan to ask for forgiveness about it. I'll also constantly ignore the allignment rules during the game itself, and that's one of the many licenses I took to have the story make sense.
The more perceptive among you, and those that know me, will also see influences of different media as well (especially noticable in the case of two of the players: one decided to adopt Star Wars names for his character and background, while the other made a character that started as a joke, called Kri-ling). I'd love to challenge you to try and find out what media I'm taking inspiration from to create a background that, the more the story advanced, the more complicated it became.
And, obviously, before saying anything else, let me send a hug and my most sincere thanks to the players that helped me create this story and ambience. Nessie, always taking notes and optimist even with her awful dice rolling. Bruno, my favourite psycho, and who also had one of my favourite character developments. Marc, our Legolas wannabe and an excelent player and strategist. Laura, who managed to make any scene more movie-like and who loved to climb anything taller than her character. Fei, who I still don't believe it's his first experience playing a tabletop RPG. And my brother Gareth, whose comments helped me make much of the game even better. Without you or your characters, none of the stories I will tell would've been possible.
Thus allow me, readers, to give you the warmest welcome to the continent of Eviris, the magic you can breathe in there and, finally, the legend of the group that would call themselves "The Golden Scales".
